“He’d kill me, coach, please—”

His fingers flex harder around my throat. “Call me Archer from now on when we’re alone.”

I struggle to draw in oxygen, clawing at his hand.

“And I don’t give a shit what he’ll do. You know how to avoid your father and everyone else you know and love ever finding out about your treachery.”

I feel sick to the stomach that this man is blackmailing me into giving him my virginity as if it’s some trophy to be won. “You make me sick,” I spit.

He releases my throat, but before I can pull away, he grabs a fistful of my hair and angles my face up. “Such a liar, Adrianna. I know your pussy is wet from thinking about my cock.” His grip tightens. “You will meet Oak, Gav, and I in town tonight with your friends, or the truth is out. I will text you the details.”

With that, he releases my hair and storms out of the swimming pool, slamming the door behind him. I want to scream, but all I can do is clench my fists and blow out a frustrated breath, as I need to avoid awkward questions from Camilla.

I’m shaking from either shock or pure anger as I walk toward the pool, putting my bathing cap on as I do. And then I put on my goggles, knowing that all I need right now is the cold water to encase me and cool me off, as I’m beyond pissed.

Diving in at the deep end, I take my rage out on the water, thrashing through it harder and faster than ever. Wishing the crystal blue surface was Coach’s face as I punch my hands through is viciously.

He’s an asshole, and if I want to beat him at this game, I’m going to have to play dirty, too.

ARCHER

“What are you waiting for, Gav?” I ask as I clap him on the shoulder.

Gav moves away. “Keep your hands to yourself.”

“Sorry, forgot how touchy you are.” I wink at him. “Come on, let’s have fun.” I stride into the bar toward the table where Oak and the three girls are already sitting. Adrianna has her back to me.

“Good evening, ladies,” I say as I sit my ass down next to Adrianna and smirking at her. “How are you tonight?”

My question is directed at Adrianna, but it’s Eva who replies. “We’re all great.”

I clench my jaw and stare at Adrianna, making her shuffle uncomfortably next to me. After the conversation we had earlier that afternoon, she’s no doubt stewing over the revelation that she’s indeed going to sleep with me if she doesn’t want people to find out she’s a traitor to the Vasquez cartel. Grabbing a glass from the center and the bottle of scotch, I pour myself some.

“You two are both late,” Oak says, glaring at Gav, as he expects it from me.

Gav shrugs. “Sorry, got held up.”

“This is nice, isn’t it, Adrianna?” I ask, moving closer to her.

She looks at me like she wants to kill me and it’s arousing. “Not particularly.”

“When are you going to stop harassing Adrianna, Archer?” Eva asks.

I smirk, not at all intimidated by Oak’s little plaything. “I’ll stop once she gives me what is mine.”

Eva glares at me. “And what is that?”

I smirk as I lift my glass to my lips. “Adrianna knows.” I take a sip, enjoying the burn of the liquid.

“I don’t owe you shit,” Adrianna says, clearly forgetting our conversation earlier this afternoon.

I move closer to her. “You know that’s not true, unless you’ve decided you don’t care about you family leaning the truth,” I whisper into her ear. “And let’s be honest. If the other day after gym class is anything to go on, you want this as badly as I do.”

“Archer,” Oak snaps. “Leave the girl alone.”

My nostrils flare as I glance up at Oak, who is clearly reacting to Eva’s wishes.
