Page 79 of Playing Dirty

“How shit the game was,” I say.

He shakes his head. “I thought it was good, but then I’m a hockey fan.” His expression changes as he leans toward me. “Can I have a word in private?”

“Sure,” I say.

He pulls me away and grabs my hand. “So, Adrianna. Why did you want to go to the game with me?”

I swallow hard and shrug. “Just thought it would be fun.”

He smirks. “You got the hots for me, Vasquez?”

The thought makes me want to puke. “No chance.”

His brow furrows, and he suddenly looks a little vulnerable. “Well, can you pretend like you do?”

“What?”

He clenches his jaw. “It’s Rosa. She’s playing hard to get, and I want to make her jealous.” His eyes dart toward Rosa, who is talking to the new kid, Rizzo.

I’m surprised Nik would even admit that, but it’s exactly what I’ve been trying to do with him. Make Coach jealous. “Sure, no problem.”

He smiles, pulling me close. “In that case, shall we make it convincing?”

I glance at him, his eyes dancing with amusement. “How do you propose we do that?”

He smirks. “How about a kiss?”

I can’t understand why the thought of kissing Nik, even as a ruse to make Rosa and Archer jealous, makes me feel dirty. Especially since I just climaxed less than half an hour ago with Archer’s fingers inside of me. It makes me feel like I’m cheating on Archer or something, which makes no sense considering the way he forced me to have sex with him. Anger coils through me that I’m even thinking like that. “Okay, one kiss.”

His lips curve into a smirk as he draws me against him, eyes darting briefly to Rosa, who is chatting to Rizzo. And then he kisses me. His lips are firm against mine, but I feel nothing as his tongue dips into my mouth. It’s such a conflicting contrast between when Archer kisses me.

And then suddenly Nik is being ripped away from me. It’s a blur as Archer is standing there and he has his hands on Nik as he punches him in the face.

I start forward, grabbing his arm. “Stop!”

He tries to shrug me off, but I intercept him and grab hold of his fist before it hits Nik’s face again.

“What the fuck, Coach?” Nik says, holding his mouth, which is bleeding.

“Don’t fucking touch her ever again. Do you hear me?”

Nik’s eyes widen and he nods. “Sure.”

I drag Archer away. “What the hell are you doing?”

He spins on me. “What am I doing? I told you that you can’t date another guy and then I come out into the parking lot to find you kissing Nik.”

“He kissed me and what’s the big deal?”

His expression is scary, and I take a few steps backward.

It forces him to pursue me across the parking lot. “The big deal is you are mine, Adrianna. That was the agreement.”

I place my hands on my hips. “There was no agreement that I wouldn’t date. All you said was that I have to be at your apartment every night this year.” It’s a fact, even if I knew he would be angry seeing me with Nik.

Ever since he’s had his eyes set on me, he’s been possessive and easily wound up. And it makes my plan that much easier. Archer needs to fall for me if I’m going to get my revenge on him and make him suffer for blackmailing me. I’m not the type of girl to just take this shit without some kind of retaliation.

“You are mine for the year. That was the agreement.” He wraps a firm palm around my throat. “There’s no need for me to tell you not to date, as it’s expected when you belong to someone else,” he growls.
