She rushes over to me and places an arm around my shoulders, guiding me to the sofa to sit down. “Tell me what happened.”

“The guy is a psychopath.”

She bites her bottom lip. “What did he do?”

I feel heat coil through me because I can’t tell her what he did. It’s too humiliating. That he took my virginity even when I said no multiple times, and by the end, I was practically begging him for it. And then again this morning after I saw that board about my family.

“He has some weird detective style board in his apartment with the entire family mapped out on it with photos and everything.”

Olivia’s brow furrows. “What?”

“I’m serious. The guy has it out for our family and I’m part of his plan. I just don’t know why.”

“You have to tell your father.”

I sigh heavily, knowing deep down that he won’t believe me. “I don’t have any evidence. Isiah made sure of it when he grabbed my phone and smashed it against a wall.”

She gasps. “He didn’t hurt you, did he?”

The bruises on my hips and the ache between my thighs are reminders of the pain he inflicted, but I shake my head in response. “No.”

“That’s something, at least. Let me talk with your father.”

I tilt my head. “Do you think he will listen to you?”

Olivia’s throat bobs as she swallows. “It’s worth a try, isn’t it?”

I know from the look on her face that she’s not convinced my dad will listen to either of us. “We’re fucked,” I say, slumping back and shutting my eyes. “Isiah Darcy is dangerous. I always knew there was something off about him from the day we met.”

“You have to get your dad to listen to you. No matter what it takes.”

She’s right, and yet I know it’s impossible even before I try. Dad doesn’t listen to women. A fatal flaw he’s had all his life and something tells me it will be the Benedetto family’s downfall.

“If he doesn’t listen, then it will be down to me to work out what Isiah’s game is.”

My aunt worries her lip between her teeth. “You need to be careful, though. Men like Isiah…” she trails off. “They’ll do anything to get what they want.”

“You sound like you’re speaking from experience.”

She meets my gaze. “Things between Darius and I aren’t great, Bella. I know you think we’re happy, but it’s all a façade. The man is a violent drunk who degrades women.”

“And that’s why you cheated on him last night?” I confirm.

Her expression turns sorrowful as she shakes her head. “Despite all the shit that bastard has put me through, I couldn’t go through with it.”

I find that hard to believe. “So why did it only occur to you this morning to try to find out where I was?”

“I assumed you were with Isiah and went to bed drunk and exhausted. When I woke to find you not here, I panicked, and that was an hour ago.”

“I’m glad you made me come here.”

Her eyebrows raise. “You are?”

It sounds insane, especially after the way Isiah treated me last night, but I am glad I saw that board as it only cemented the opinion that Isiah Darcy has an ulterior motive for marrying me. “Yes, because now I can find out what Isiah is hiding. I had a suspicion, but nothing concrete to go on.”

Olivia shakes her head. “Seriously, Bella. If he’s as dangerous as you say, it’s a good idea not to make things worse.”

I know she’s probably right, but what if he intends to destroy my family? I may not be close to them, but there’s no way I’d stand by while he does that.
