“308.”

“Hey, you’re just two doors down from me.” He took a drink of his Diet Coke. “Maybe after the movie tonight we can do a Final Fantasy quest. Like old times.”

She grinned. “I still play.”

“I know.” He ducked his head and his ears turned red.

“You know?” She squinted at him. Did Colton keep tabs on her?

“I just see you on sometimes. I mean, not that I have time to play anymore. But every once in a while I notice you’re on at the same time I am.” His blush intensified.

She kicked his leg. “You’re stalking me on Final Fantasy?” A wave of pleasure washed over her. He hadn’t totally forgotten about her.

“No. It’s not like that.” His whole face was now red. How perfectly adorable he looked when he was embarrassed. “How’s your Dr. Pepper?”

“It’s good. But it’s getting warm.”

His eyes smiled. “You shouldn’t have ordered it without ice.”

Now she looked stupid. Not that this was a new thing for her. “But I don’t like how the ice waters down the soda. It would be fine if it wasn’t so hot out here.”

He laughed. “You’re only hot because you’re wearing sweats.”

“They’re comfortable.”

His gaze traveled over her. “Not if they’re making you too hot.”

She rolled her eyes. “You sound like Brooke.”

At the mention of her name Brooke opened her eyes and glared at Remi. “If you’re hot, go inside. I don’t care. I just thought you should spend some time in the sun since we’re in the Cayman Islands.”

Colton chuckled and stood. “We can go inside. I know you’re part snowman. Come on.”

She hopped up. He didn’t have to ask her twice. “Thanks.”

They walked up the beach, the sand getting in her shoes, which only annoyed her further. Why had she let Brooke talk her into this? She knew it was going to be five years ago all over again. He had a girlfriend for heaven’s sake.

When they reached the resort he guided her toward his deck, then slid the door open and led her into his room. She stopped short. “Thisis your room?”

It was easily twice the size of hers, had more elaborate decorations, a couch, a jacuzzi tub and a bed the size of a small country. Did they make beds larger than king sized? Why did one person need one like that?

“Yeah. Why?”

“It’s just…nicer than mine.” She turned to the television. “How did they get that size TV into this room?”

Colton shrugged. “I dunno. There are just some things in life that are a mystery. Like, if you’re not a beach person, why did you book a trip to the Cayman Islands?” He shot her a look that held deeper meaning. Fantastic. He knew something was up. And now was when she would have to melt into the floor with embarrassment.

She hugged her arms to herself. She didn’t want to tell him, but she knew if she didn’t he would just keep asking, in one way or another. It was best to rip off the band aid. “This trip was planned as my honeymoon.”

Colton froze, his gaze intensifying. “What?”

“I know. Lame, right? Instead of canceling everything, I brought my sister on my honeymoon.” Heat flushed to her cheeks. She was pretty sure in the book of ludicrous things to do, bringing your sister on your planned honeymoon trip was listed first.

He swallowed and took a step toward her. “Why did you do that?”

Imaginary sirens sounded loud in her head, and her internal voice shouted, “Abort! Abort!” Why did she talk about this trip being her honeymoon? She could have said anything. He was going to figure out they’d talked to Jules and came because of him. Being too frank was a curse sometimes. But Colton stood before her, a slight frown on his lovely lips, waiting for her to say something.

She shrugged, trying to keep the conversation light. “The trip was already paid for.”
