“It is,” he said, not taking his eyes off her.

She wondered if he was flirting with her. She wasn’t sure at all. No one had ever flirted with her before. At least not that she’d realized. Maybe her flirt sensor was broken. Tavon had never flirted. He wasn’t that kind of guy. He’d asked her out, she’d said yes, and that was it. She blushed at his compliment.

“I heard there’s a dance tomorrow at the resort. Want to go with me?”

Her breath caught. Was he asking just as friends? She was so bad at this. She wasn’t a mind reader. She nodded, keeping her tone light. “Sure.”

“My father has the day planned tomorrow with Liz, but I’ll be free by the evening.”

“What are you doing with Liz?” Remi cringed. Why did that question pop out of her mouth? She didn’t want to know.

“We’re doing some all-day bike tour thing.” Colton shrugged and made a face, making it clear he wasn’t looking forward to it.

“Could be fun,” she said, trying to be supportive.

“I’d rather spend the day with you.”

His words warmed her, and it spread through her, melting her insides. She gave him a smile. “Me, too. Except, get rid of that wig.”

He raised his bushy eyebrows. “You don’t like the wig?”

She shook her head, trying not to laugh. “It’s terrible.”

“Really?”

“You know those commercials that say, ‘Only you know it’s a wig?’”

“Yes.”

“They lied.”

He busted out laughing. “Noted.”

Colton sat back, his expression growing contemplative. “I think I want to ask your opinion on something.”

“You think?”

He gave her a shy smile, which looked adorable on him. “Yeah, I do. I’ve decided. I want your opinion.”

Remi shot him a questioning look. “On what?”

Their server came to their table with their food, interrupting them. He set down their plates, and Colton waited until he left before leaning forward. The smell of her baby back ribs was amazing, and Remi couldn’t wait. She picked up a rib and took a bite. The meat practically melted in her mouth.

“Oh, my gosh, this is so good.”

Colton nodded, digging in as well. “To die for.”

Remi picked up another rib. “So, what do you want my opinion on?”

He shrugged like he’d decided he no longer wanted to talk about it. “It’s just something. Nothing big.”

“What is it?”

He shifted. Remi hadn’t seen him this uncomfortable. “I have been working on something, and I haven’t told anyone about it.”

“Ooh, a secret something,” she said, getting excited. “Tell me what it is.”

“I will. When we get back to the resort.”
