“Shannon is coming home Thursday, so I’m actually not sure what I’m doing next weekend.”

“Thursday?” Archer asked. “Does that mean game night is cancelled?”

“I’ll let you know. It depends on what she’s doing.”

“We could just order in and hang out instead of gaming.”

This from Andrew, who’s had a crush on my sister since the first time he laid eyes on her back in Kindergarten. I’m pretty sure he started hanging around with me back in the day just to get close to her. Even now, he tries to be available anytime she’s home. Unfortunately for him, she put him firmly in the friend zone years ago.

Then again, Keera put me there years ago and look at us now. So I guess there’s always hope. There are definitely worse people Shannon could end up with.

“I’ll see what Shannon is up to and let you know later in the week.”

CHAPTER12

Keera

“I’m notsure what Shannon has going on, but if she’s not doing anything with her friends while she’s here this weekend, maybe we can all do something.”

Simon and I had finished eating dinner and were just waiting for the check. For the last few minutes he’s been telling me how he thinks something is going on with Shannon. I’m sympathetic to the fact he’s concerned about his sister, but part of my mind is occupied thinking about what I hope is going to happen once we leave here.

“Sure, that’ll be fun.”

The waitress finally brought the check. Simon handed her his credit card and she swiped it through a handheld reader. After he signed the receipt, we were on our way.

Simon had picked me up at the studio, which is in the opposite direction of his house, so I have to let him know what I’m thinking before we pull out of the parking lot. He settled behind the wheel and as he started the engine, I shifted in my seat to face him.

“So I was thinking…” He raised his eyebrows as I trailed off. “I’d really like to see your house again.” His eyebrows rose even higher as his mouth formed a perfect O as my meaning set in. “If that’s okay.”

“That’s–sure. Great.”

He held the wheel with a white-knuckled grip and pulled out of the parking lot. We didn’t speak on the short drive to his house, but it wasn’t an awkward silence. It was more charged and filled with anticipation.

Simon turned into his driveway, opened the garage door, and pulled inside. After shutting the engine off, he closed the door behind us, then stepped out of the car. He walked around and opened my door, then held out his hand to help me out. I kept hold of it as we walked inside.

As we entered the kitchen, he turned to face me.

“Would you like a drink?” I shook my head and he took a step toward me. “What would you like?”

My lady parts tingled at the deep timbre of his voice.

“I was hoping we could pick up where we left off Saturday night.” I rested my hand against his chest. “Except maybe we could head to your room instead of starting here.”

“Are you sure?”

I nodded and moved closer until my chest pressed against his. A slow, sexy smile spread across his face, but I only had a second to appreciate it before he grabbed my hand and pulled me toward the stairs.

Simon let go of my hand at the threshold of his room and walked inside to turn on a lamp. It provided a soft glow and I took a step forward, taking in my surroundings. The masculine colors give the room a cozy feel and I made a mental note to check out the books and collectibles neatly displayed on the wall of shelves later.

He walked over and took both of my hands in his.

“You still sure?”

I don’t remember any of the guys I’ve been with before asking me that. Much less twice in five minutes.

“I’m positive.”

Simon lowered his head and sealed our mouths together. I slipped my arms around his neck, matching his longing and desire with each bold kiss. He wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me up onto my tiptoes, bringing me tighter against him. With our mouths still fused together, he took slow, deliberate steps backward, moving us toward the bed.
