“Dion is fine. He has a hangover, and I'm not sure if Jax would have hit him a few times by now.”

Dion had carried on drinking then. It hurt my heart to know that he had fallen off the wagon. Somehow, it felt like it was my fault. He’d been doing so much better without me in his life. Had something I'd done or said triggered him?

“Stop it.” Elodie shook me. “He's a grown man who makes his own decisions. This is him and not you, Lola. Now, test yes?”

I swallowed hard before nodding. “Sure, but where are we going to get one today?”

Elodie grinned. “I have Chance outside in the car. I'm going to send him to find one.”

The blood drained out of my face. “God, no, El, I don't want Chance to know. If he knows, then he will tell the others and Dion will find out.”

“Dion is going to find out one way or another, Lola. If you are pregnant, then you won't be able to hide it from him. Sooner or later, you will begin to show.”

“I'll tell him, but I want to find out first. If I'm not, then all will be great and if I am.” I shivered. “Well, if I am, I'm going to have to deal with it and I'll tell him face to face. I just don't want to speak to him until I know for sure.”

Elodie and Celia remained silent. Both of them were staring at me. Elodie blinked first and then nodded. “Fine, no Chance.” Digging out her phone, her fingers flew across the screen. “There done.”

“What's done?”

“I asked Legacy.” Elodie grinned. “There's bound to be hundreds in the clubhouse. I mean its like orgy central there most weekends and accidents with club girls happen. He will get us one.”

“Legacy will tell Chance.”

“Relax, I told him it was for me. My brother will be too mad at Jax for knocking me up to say anything to anyone else. And on that note.” She climbed to her feet. “I need to phone Jax and warn him to stay at Dion's for a while. I wouldn't want my brother getting hold of him.”

One little word on a blue and white stick.

One word.

PREGNANT.

And my world imploded.

DION

There was something going on, something other than my royal fuck up that had the band on a constant baby sitting loop looking after me. It was evident on everyone's face, but especially Jax’s. I kept catching him looking at me out of the corner of his eye when he thought I wasn't looking. His face was a perfect blend of thoughtful and down right murderous. Whatever he knew, whatever they all knew that I didn't, wasn’t sitting well with any of them.

I hated secrets, and they all knew it, but it didn't matter how much I pressed, no one would tell me anything.

“How's Lola?” I asked for the twelfth time that day, only this time I aimed it at someone else. Celia, Erik's young assistant.

She looked up briefly and then went back to tapping out a message on her phone. Her young arrogance grated on me.

“Celia?” I was fed up with being palmed off whenever I asked about her. Tired of the platitudes that came out of Jax and everyone else's mouth.

“She’s fin–”

I cut her off with a groan. “If one more person tells me she's fine, then I'm going to explode. You've been staying with her, haven't you? How is Lola?”

Slowly, Celia dropped the phone onto her lap. “I'm not staying with her anymore, and she isn't staying with me. She's gone home for a while.” She shrugged her slender shoulders.

“Home?” I raised an eyebrow. “Home to Elodie's?”

If that was the case, why hadn’t anyone told me? Why hadn’t Jax mentioned it, but I already knew the answer to that. The same reason he hadn’t mentioned she had been living with Elodie to begin with. They all thought I wasn't good enough for her.

And they would all be right.
