“I have five pieces of clothing that fit me, Shelby. There is not a lot of variety in my closet right now. I can wear black, black, or gray.”
Shelby sighed. “Fine, but once you tell Charlie you are pregnant, we’re going on a shopping spree. You’re going to get all of the cute maternity clothes, and you are not going to say no.”
I held up my hands. “I am not going to fight you on that. I’m sick of doing laundry all the time anyway. Bring on the shopping spree.”
But first, I was going to have to tell Charlie he was going to be a daddy.
No big deal at all.
Chapter Fourteen
Charlie
I was going to puke.
I was finally going to have Missy in front of me again, and I was going to throw up.
“Refill?” Leanne asked.
I shook my head. “No, I’m good right now.”
“You really waiting for someone?” she asked.
I had been sitting in the booth for close to half an hour waiting for Missy to walk through the door. So far, she hadn’t. “Yes, Leanne. I’ll wave you over when we’re ready to order.” She had been up my butt trying to talk while I waited for Missy, and I just wanted her to go away.
I wanted everyone to go away except for Missy until we figured us out.
I knew what I wanted, but I wasn’t sure Missy wanted the same.
I wanted her.
She was mine.
Had been mine.
I wanted her back.
I still didn’t know if I would be able to give her all the attention and time she deserved, but I knew I would do everything I could to try.
“Hey.”
My head snapped up, and my heart flipped in my chest.
Missy.
“Uh, hey.” I scrambled to stand. “I didn’t see you come in.”
Missy tucked her hair behind her ear and smiled shyly. “I came in the back. Sometimes being the center of attention when you walk into a room isn’t what I want.”
She scooted into the booth, and I sat opposite her.
Missy looked great.
She always did.
Her deep, rich red hair was piled on top of her head, and long tendrils framed her face. She had on tight black leggings and a baggy black sweater over top.
“Did you order?” she asked.
