Still wrung out from my orgasm, all I can do is nod my head yes. He just laughs at me as he helps me to my feet. He hands me my underwear and then takes care of the condom. We both use the mirror above my old dresser to try to make ourselves presentable, but it’s no use. Every adult here is going to know what Cash and I just did, and I honestly don’t give a fuck. He’s slowly working his way under my skin, and I like it more and more each day.
When we make it back to the kitchen, Reid, Landon, and Emerson are there cleaning up the leftovers. I can see dad and Spencer sitting on lawn chairs by the sidewalk watching Penny color with chalk. Landon gives me a look that says, I know exactly what you were doing as Emerson gives us a slow clap. I can’t help but laugh as I flip them both off and head to the fridge to grab us a beer. I need to say something before either of these three has a chance to get going on what just happened upstairs.
“So, I hear Princess Penny gets to have a slumber party with her favorite uncle tonight.”
“Damn straight. It’s been a while since she’s stayed over, and I can’t wait. She even convinced Landon to come over and watch a movie with us. Emerson was sweet enough to pack up some brownies and leftovers, so I won’t have to worry about making anything for dinner.”
“Oh, I’m sure that took so much convincing on her part to get Landon to come watch movies with her.” I know my best friend, and Reid Dalton is exactly his type. Sure, he absolutely adores Penny, but there’s no way in hell he’s going to pass up the chance to lounge on a couch near Reid Dalton. I’m not going to call him out here, but you better believe the next time we hang out or work together, I’m totally getting the scoop to see what’s going on between those two.
“So, what are you two going to get into this evening?”
“Oh, the same. Cash mentioned heading to his house, but I think I may try and see if I can tempt him to come to mine. I don’t know what I did on our shift last night, but my back is killing me. I could use a soak in the hot tub.”
“You caught a beast of a man that weighed at least 275 and was 6’5” after he passed out when he saw his wife’s baby was crowning. And I’m sure that’s not the only reason you have a sore back.” He gives me a knowing look and I decide to flip him off again. Ass!
“You caught a dude that big? Impressive.” Reid puts out his fist and I bump it.
“Maybe, but I didn’t want to deal with cleaning up the blood when he hit the floor and I’m honestly paying for it today.”
“Damn, Chayse. Why didn’t you tell me? Did you tell one of the doctor’s so they could check you out.” Cash is rubbing slow circles on my back and looking upset. I’m sure he’s worried about hurting me upstairs, but I’m honestly fine. Just some sore muscles that a little heat and ibuprofen should take care of.
“Yes, I did, and he told me to take it easy and rest, which is exactly what I’ve done today. I’m fine and just really love indulging in the hot tub.”
“Okay…” Before we can argue anymore, Spencer calls us out back.
“Do you think it’s time to give dad his present?”
“Sure. Cash, can you go grab it? It’s leaning up against the house.”
“You bet.” He pecks a kiss to my head and pulls back with wide eyes realizing what he just did. Thankfully Penny breaks the silence with her sweet giggles.
“Daddy, you just kissed Chayse like you do me. Do you like Chayse? You said you can only kisses peoples when you really really really like them.”
Cash starts pulling at the back of his neck before he glances at me. Although I’m enjoying watching him squirm, I shake my head yes to let him know it’s okay to tell Penny. There’s no denying that I’m into Cash, and I’m done fighting the desire to spend time with him. I can’t resist him, and I don’t want to.
“Yeah, peanut. I do really like Chayse. Is that okay with you?”
“Of course, silly! Chayse is so fun and nice, and she does hair way better than you.” We all start laughing at that. I took a few minutes to give her matching bubble braids while we waited for the rest of our food to be done earlier. I have to say, it’s a great improvement to the crooked piggies she came with. Although, I may be partial to them more because I know how hard her dad tries.
“Alright, you stay here, and I am going to go grab Clint’s present.”
“Now, why did you girls go and get me a present?”
“Well, this is your birthday present from all of us, but we figured you’d get more use of it if we gave it to you early.” Just then, Cash walks back around the house with the corn hole boards.
“Ah, hell. Those look great! You girls know how much I’ve wanted my own boards.”
“We know. Chayse built them, I painted the design, and Spencer sewed the bean bags. Wanna play a game and wear off some of that food we just ate?”
“Oh, can I play too?”
“Sure, little lady. You can be on my team. Who do you think should be our partner?”
Dad scoops up Penny and they try deciding who would help them win and who would be the easiest to beat. Little does she know, but all of us are very competitive and decently athletic. Finally, Penny decides that she wants me to be on her team and we are going to play against Cash and Reid.
The rest of the afternoon is spent playing corn hole, drinking good beer, and munching on leftover snacks. This has been one of the best days off I’ve had in months and it’s all because of the people here. I didn’t realize all I would gain from hiring Cash and Reid to help renovate my house and I’m certainly not mad about it.
Reid is like the brother that I never had. He’s sweet and funny. He cheers me on with work and when I do a kick ass job on something in the house. Penny brings the fun that’s been missing back into my life. It’s been so long since I’ve let loose and was just plain silly, and now I have Penny to thank for that.
