"Don't even start, we're talking later," I tell him as I roll my eyes at his lack of seriousness in a situation I am attempting to be very serious in.

Gray, Liam, and Dad all shake their heads.

"Well, there is one more thing. More for your dad and Liam to know than anyone else but.." Victor cuts himself off as he backs up when both Liam and Dad begin walking menacingly towards him.

"You realise he's about to tell you whatever this is anyway, you don't need to act all hulk on him," I tell them. I hear Crow snicker in the background before pretending to zip his lips closed when I glare in his direction.

"What is it, boy?" my dad asks him.

"Well, the thing is, my dad wasn't interested in a merge but now he sort of is-"

"I might forgive you, but I am not marrying you if that's where this is going," I rush out, watching as Victor smiles and shakes his head at me.

"No, no, I know. It's honestly probably worse. Since you two stepped down-" I don't let him get anything else out before I put my hand up to stop him.

"What is he talking about stepped down?" I step in between Victor, my dad, and Liam as I look up at them both with the most incredulous look on my face.

"You know, when I asked 'does anyone have anything else to tell me?' This is what I meant. This is the type of thing you're supposed to tell me. Why the hell have you both stepped down?" I hiss out, my eyes closing and my breath hitching with frustration as I take in the absolute fuck fest (in the worst way) that is the situation I'm currently stuck in.

I genuinely spend more time wondering what the actual fuck is wrong with the male specimens surrounding me than I do thinking about real, logical, normal things these days - which is pretty bloody concerning.

"Char, I'm not exactly in a position to lead right now if you hadn't noticed," Liam tells me with a pointed look.

OK, fair. I'm not telling him so but he has a valid point. I don't even need him to explain. I get it.

"Dad?" I ask, though before he even speaks, I know what's going to come out.

"I was only watching over the Club until Liam got out, it was never supposed to be permanent. I never wanted it to be. I need to move on with my life, with you and Gray," my dad says, the harsh lines and dark circles under his eyes becoming apparent. He may only be in his thirties, but you can see how tired he is - from the mayhem of club life and the consequences of it.

"So, who does that leave in charge?" I wonder aloud.

"By our laws, people fight - both physically and through the votes of our men as to who the new MC President is. It usually goes down the line of succession if everyone is happy with that but Gray doesn't want it, he never has and I'm not going to force that on him," Dad says with a glance in Gray’s direction.

Gray has always trained hard. He's a much better fighter than I am, but I'm not sure that he's suited to the role even if he wanted to be.

"That's where the problem kind of lies," Victor interrupts. "Theo, my dad’s right hand man, wants to try and become the Cobras new Pres to merge the clubs."

"Would that be bad?" I ask, though from the ashen look on Victor’s face, I assume it indeed would be.

"He's a sadistic fuck that gets off on power and hurting people, so yes, it would be bad," Liam says while scratching the stubble along his jaw.

"And what are the chances of him getting in over anyone else that tries?" I have no idea if anyone has put their name forward, but I imagine the Cobras would want one of their own ruling them.

"None of the Cobras want the responsibility so right now, assuming he has the most support and can gain the most allies, we wouldn't have much choice but to accept him," my dad says.

So it needs to be someone that the Cobras trust, someone that can gain support, and someone that can help form allies. Crow’s eyes catch mine as I find a sly smile creeping on my face. I have the best idea.

"This feels weird," Crow says as we walk together towards the lake and the forest we used to visit regularly.

"I know. It feels like nothing and everything has changed all at once," I agree as I take in the scenery surrounding us.

Spring is now in full swing, a fact that is blatantly obvious when looking at the vibrant and newly growing leaves, trees and flowers beginning to bloom once more.

"I'm surprised Liam let us come out alone. He's a stubborn fucker." Crow sighs as he takes my hand in his.
