“Gotcha, beautiful,” I whisper hungrily.

Ripley’s chest rises and falls as her breaths pant out of her, her heart thundering in her chest. Her pulse thumps furiously beneath her skin and I lick the throbbing point on her neck before I nip it lightly, forcing a moan between her plump lips. Her lust flows down our new bond, sending tingles down my spine.

“Such a pretty prize. Now what to do with you, now that I have you?” I rumble, my voice muffled against her throat.

“Are you sure you have me caught so easily, Riv?” she asks me breathily.

I run my nose along the curve of her neck, and she tilts her head to give me more access, momentarily distracting me with how delicious she smells and how fucking perfect she feels in my arms. I love the way she feels against me and how loved I feel when she looks at me. Ripley has quickly become everything to me.

My hands slide down her waist, gripping her hips loosely as I get lost in her. Just as I’m getting ready to bend her over the nearest thing I can find, public indecency be damned, she grabs my loose hands and flings them away, taking off again. I stand there frozen in place for a moment, my hands still in place to hold nothing but air and my head still bent, as my brain tries to catch up with what just happened.

Ripley snorts as she runs off, heading for the exit. “You said something about a spanking?” She cackles as she pushes the exit door open just as I snap back to reality.

Oh, she’s going to get it now. I chase after her, hitting the door just before it closes and the night air hits me, warm with a nice cool breeze. My eyes dart everywhere, trying to find her quickly before she can get out of sight. I watch as she ducks behind a shooting game booth and head after her, weaving through the throngs of people scattered about the fairgrounds. When there’s a break in the crowd, I speed up to a jog as I watch Ripley skip ahead with a bright smile, looking back periodically to see how close I am to catching up to her.

I grin when her eyes widen comically as she realizes I’m only a few paces behind her and she speeds up.

Oh no, you don’t, Little Bird.

I pick up the pace as well. I’m right behind her in seconds when she makes it to the picnic area, grabbing the back of her shirt and dragging her back to me, wrapping her up tight in my arms.

“Now what are you gonna do, gorgeous?” I whisper against her cheek, rubbing mine against hers and effectively covering her in my scent even more.

Several people keep glancing our way as I’m wrapped around her. Looks of surprise and even some sneers have come throughout our evening and now night from all the different designations. Surprise came from the alphas and betas out and about, mostly. The sneers came from omegas, like they couldn’t believe two omegas would dare be in love and bonded. In public, no less! The shame!

Though we did get one or two that smiled conspiratorially at us earlier. I don’t much care what anyone thinks about us, but I could tell some of those looks bothered Ripley when she noticed them. So, I made it my mission to make sure she stayed distracted our entire time out, so she didn’t notice any more looks we received. I’m sure she saw a few more, but I also think she caught on to what I was doing and decided to not let it get to her after that.

People are just assholes sometimes. I never could understand why anyone would care about who someone has in their bed, especially when it doesn’t concern or affect them. We’re no different from the other packs. We just have some extra omega love in the mix. It’s not such a big deal.

Well, I guess it is, but it doesn’t seem like it to me. Especially now. Ripley is mine, permanently. There’s no going back on our bond, and I wouldn’t want to, even if I could. She’s the missing link. The piece that was always meant to be there but took her time filling the empty space. We may not have known back then that we were missing something vital from us, but it became so clear when she came around.

Now, I feel whole. Complete. When she finally bonds with everyone else, because let’s face it, that’s coming, we’re going to be stronger than ever and the happiest we’ve ever been. I can’t wait to see all her pretty marks on her skin when she gets them. Proof that she’s ours, that Pack Kingston is whole and complete finally.

“Hmm...” she pretends to think it over, tapping an index finger on her chin.

“Rip!” a male’s voice yells, and we both glance over to where we heard it.

A dark-skinned man heads our way with two alphas at his back. His apple pie scent hits me when he gets closer, and he grins at Ripley as she squeals and pushes out of my hold, bounding happily to the omega I’ve never met before and wrapping him in a hug. They squeeze each other tightly, whispering amongst themselves.

I’d be jealous if I didn’t know it’s completely platonic. Okay. Maybe I’m a little jealous. Those omega hormones are something else.

Eventually they release each other, and Ripley drags him over to me. I try to smile at the man as I look between the two, my eyes staying locked on their clasped hands a little too long.

“River, this is Gabriel. You remember me telling you about how he and Hunt are my best friends?” She puts extra emphasis on the word ‘friends,’ raising a brow at me.

It’s clear that she recognized the jealousy burning inside of me, even though I tried to hide it. I give her a sheepish look before reaching forward and shaking Gabriel’s hand. The hand he was holding Ripley’s with and now no longer is, thank the Gods.

“It’s nice to meet you, Gabriel. I’ve heard a lot about you and Hunt over the last few months,” I say, pulling Ripley to my side and wrapping my arm around her shoulder in a very possessive way.

What? I’m an omega, okay? My reactions don’t always make sense. They’re friends, I know. But still. Mine.

I catch Ripley rolling her eyes at me from the corner of mine. She’s lucky we’re in public. I want to bend her over and make sure she knows without a doubt that I’m the only omega for her. No matter how completely ridiculous my reactions are. I can recognize that it’s completely uncalled for and that I’m the only omega for her. But omega hormones make you territorial, and I am beyond territorial over Ripley, I’m realizing. With everyone except my other bonded, because I want her bonded to them as well, locked so tight in our pack, she could never untangle herself from us. Or me. Especially me.

I don’t know where this crazy fear came from suddenly. A fear of losing her. Even though I know I won’t. She’s not going anywhere. She loves me. I know she does. I can feel it through the bond. She’s an extension of me. Our souls twined together for eternity.

“I wish I could say the same: about hearing all about you, not the meeting you part. Seems Rip’s been keeping secrets.” He raises a brow at her before eyeing the mark between her neck and shoulder.

An exquisite mark, I might add. And did I say permanent yet? Because if not, it is.
