Ripley huffs at my side. “I wasn’t keeping secrets. You would have heard all about it had you showed up for our lunch date. Hunt knows. And then things got kind of crazy, and I got busy,” she says defensively.

“I can see that. So, you finally found a match, huh? And with an omega, no less.” He raises his brow but gives her an impressed look. “Good for you, babe. I’m happy for you.”

I growl at the ‘babe’ part, but cough and wince when Ripley elbows me in the ribs. It was just a knee jerk reaction.

“Sorry,” I grumble, feeling thoroughly chastised even though she didn’t even say anything.

Gabriel barks out a laugh loudly. His eyes, such a strikingly pretty green I notice begrudgingly, gleam with joy.

“No worries. My alphas would do the same. You might be an omega, but I get the feeling you’ve got a bit of alpha in you when it comes to her. I get it.”

As he says this, the two alphas with him finally step up closer, both smiling kindly at Ripley. One, a lovely blonde woman with blue eyes. She’s got nothing on my girls, though. Just saying. Not that we’re comparing or anything. The other is a tall, Asian looking man with shoulder length black hair tied back at his nape. Handsome. But my alphas are better.

Gods. I am being such a fucking omega right now.

“Sasha, Jordan. It’s good to see you.” Ripley greets the two newcomers.

“You too, Ripley. Sorry Gabe couldn’t make it to lunch. We were already in Greece when you called,” Sasha says.

“No, it’s fine. I’m glad you guys got to go on a trip together. I planned on calling and scheduling another meet up. Life just kind of happened.” Ripley shrugs.

Sasha and Jordan both eye me curiously. I stand a little straighter and look them head on confidently. I’m not ashamed of my love and my bond with my omega. I think it’s the most beautiful thing in the world, and I won’t ever feel bad about how much she means to me.

Sasha grins and nods. Weird, but okay.

“Oh, Sash, Jordan, this is River. He’s my omega.”

Ripley smiles lovingly at me when she calls me her omega and I practically melt with her words. I love it so much when she calls me hers. Even more when she calls me her omega. I cannot wait to get home and find out what Syn has planned for my reward. Especially since Ripley informed me on the way over here that Syn let slip that Ripley is included. Color me even more intrigued, Alpha.

“It’s nice to meet you,” Sasha says, and I nod at them, respectfully.

See? I can be good, Little Bird.

“You, too. Are you all out on a date night as well?” I ask.

Might as well be social and play nice. I want a happy omega tonight, not a sour one. Preferably an always happy omega, but I’ve got to be realistic here. I’m going to piss her off sometimes, I’m sure.

“Yeah. Rhett is off on a business trip and Gabe has been feeling down, missing him. So, we brought him out to help take his mind off it for a bit. He’ll be back in a few days, but it’s the first time any of us have been gone since we bonded, so it’s a new learning curve.” Jordan is the one that responds this time as Gabriel curls into the tall man’s side and wraps his arm around him.

Okay, so they’re super cute together. And I get how Gabriel is feeling as well. I remember the first time one of my alphas was gone.

Suddenly, I realize Ripley is leaving tomorrow for the first time since we bonded. I won’t see her for a few days for the first time in weeks. This is going to suck. The guys are going to be miserable while she’s gone because I’m going to be a pouty, grumpy omega and I’m going to bring them down with me. Damn my procrastination.

Then I realize it’s also going to be her first time away from me. I look down at her worriedly, but if she’s concerned, she’s very good at hiding it as she just nods sympathetically at Gabriel.

“Aww. Don’t worry Gabey Wabey. He’ll be back before you know it.”

He growls at her, glaring. “I hate that nickname.”

“Do not. Don’t lie just because your alphas are here, Gabey Wabey. You love your nickname. Always have,” Ripley insists.

Jordan snorts and Sasha laughs. Yeah, okay. Maybe I smile a little too at the back and forth between the two. Ripley’s just so damn adorable.

“Ugh. You’re the worst, you know that? Give someone else a ridiculous nickname. Your bond here probably needs one.”

He looks at me desperately. I widen my eyes in horror but hide it quickly when she looks at me like she’s assessing before shaking her head, and I discreetly release the breath I was holding.

“No, that’s mine and Kian’s thing now. He loves all of his nicknames.”
