“Oh, I gotta hear this.” Gabriel laughs and pulls out from his alpha’s arm to sit at a table.

Ripley smiles giddily and pulls me over to sit across from the other pack.

“First of all, who’s Kian?” Gabriel asks eagerly, looking back and forth between me and Ripley.

“He’s... well... he’s River’s beta. And I’m working on making him mine, too.”

Ripley blushes and I grin. I catch the surprised looks on the two alphas faces and nearly chuckle. Just wait until they hear about the alphas.

“Ooh. A beta... and? Alphas?” He asks her hopefully.

Now that, I nearly huff at. Would I not be good enough for her if it was just me?

Gods, get it the fuck together, River! I know that’s not what he meant. Dammit.

“Yes, there are three alphas. But even if there weren’t, I’d be happy with just River,” Ripley says assuredly.

When she looks at me and smiles, the tightness in my chest loosens and my heart feels full. She laces her fingers with mine and squeezes my hand in hers. Of course, she picked up on that little mood switch. She’s good at this whole bond thing.

She’s told me from the beginning that she wants me. That the others weren’t what she was after. I’m the one who pushed her to go for more. And them. I don’t regret that at all. I love seeing how happy she is and them as well. I especially love watching her come apart for the others. So, no. I don’t regret any of this. In the end, none of our designations matter. To me, she’s just a woman I love, in spite of her omega designation.

“Anyway, Kian is holding back. Or he has been. But the other day I got him alone while I was packing to move into the pack’s house, and I don’t know. I just started calling him these silly nicknames to get him to loosen up.” There’s a twinkle in her eyes and a smirk on her lips.

“Tell me!” Gabriel demands, making his alphas chuckle.

“Okay. So, there’s pookie, buttercup, cuddle muffin, snickerdoodle, boo bear, jiggly puff, ...” Ripley names off an impressive list of absolutely ridiculous and if I’m being honest, hilarious nicknames that she’s been calling Kian for the last several weeks.

We all laugh at each name, and Gabe even gives her a few new ones to add to her repertoire. After that, she regales him by telling him all about us. All of us. It’s wonderful to hear how this all started from her perspective. She’s radiating so much joy as she recounts running into me at the Lunar Festival the day after the ceremony at the Center. She blushes a lot but doesn’t go into too much detail on a lot of what’s happened. By the look in Gabriel’s eye, though, he’ll get all the dirty details out of her, eventually.

We hang out with Pack Hunter for a bit before they decide to get back to their night. Once they’re gone, Ripley wraps her arms around my neck and kisses the tip of my nose.

“You know, I think today is the first time I realized just how jealous an omega can be.” She quirks a brow at me, and I grin, shrugging my shoulders.

“I don’t know what happened. Seeing you in his arms just kinda brought the territorial in me out.”

“That’s okay. I think I’d do the same thing if the roles were reversed,” she admits.

“Mm. So, no hugging other omegas? A quick peck on the cheek?” I tease.

She mock-growls and narrows her eyes at me.

“No hugging or kissing anyone! Omega, beta, or alpha. Except for ours.”

Ours.

“Damn right, Little Bird. I’m thoroughly claimed,” I tell her smugly, puffing out my chest.

“Yeah, you are.” She grins, picking my hand up and kissing her mark.

A shiver runs down my spine as the bond flares brighter and I have to bite back a moan at how nice it feels, even just the soft pressure of her lips. Then the little minx closes her mouth around the mark and gently bites down. An indecent groan pushes up from my throat and I swallow it down, pulling my hand from her mouth as she giggles. Naughty omega.

As pay back, I lean forward and lick and nibble on my mark on her. That stops her giggling real quick.

“What do you want to do now, Little Bird?” I ask as I continue to kiss along her mark.

She stutters, her breath catching as she tries to reply. “Um... uh... w-we should go home, I think. Like, right now.” The tiniest moan comes out and I grin against her skin.

Pulling back, I stand up and grab her hand, pulling her up with me. “Then let’s get you home, beautiful.”
