I can feel Tess’s eyes boring through my back and I am about to abandon my quest, lick my wounds, and walk back to her car. But he must sense what I am thinking and pulls me to him instead, cupping my face in his warm hands.

“Friends?”

Oh, how that word stings. “We can be friends if that’s what you really want.”

“No, the lobster thing.” He shakes his head, a chuckle escaping his lips. “It’s fromFriends, right?”

I bob my head. “It is. It means you’re my soulmate.”

Theo lifts my chin to look deeply in his smiling eyes. “I love you too, Catalina.”

My heart feels like it is about to burst from happiness. I smile and a tear slips down my face. He swipes it away with his thumb.

“You do?”

“You’re the reason I believe in love.” Theo smiles that perfect, wicked grin and my knees buckle.

“That sounds much better than me saying you’re my lobster.”

“I like the lobster thing.”

“No, you don’t.”

“Absolutely, Catalina. I absolutely do like the lobster thing. It’s the most Catalina way to say I love you.”

“You’re not wrong.” I laugh, my cold breath clouding around us.

“It’s you and me now, babe. No more running allowed.”

“No more running.” I agree and Theo leans down to kiss me. I curl my hands around his neck and breathe every bit of him in.

We tear away from each other when we hear Tess blasting her horn in glee, as if to congratulate us. I wave and mouth the words, thank you. Then she drives away, her work here is done.

Theo wraps his hand around mine and I glance up at him. Happiness. He is radiating it. And he is all mine.

“So does this mean you’re actually my girlfriend now?” His eyebrows wiggle and draws a soft chuckle from me.

I stand on my tip toes and plant my lips against his, running my fingers through his hair. “Absolutely, Théoden. Absolutely.”

Theo picks me up and I wrap my legs around his waist.

“You want to come inside?” By the mischief in his eyes, I can tell he has nothing but passion and desire swimming in that gorgeous head of his and I’ve been waiting a hell of a long time to see what else this walking work of art has to offer.

I wink. “Are you going to make it worth my time?”

“Actually, I think you might make it worth my time. You owe me a hula dance.” Theo laughs, gripping me tighter.

“Coconut bra and grass skirt required?” I grimace.

“Not required.” He kisses my neck and quietly says just above my ear, “You could always do it naked.”

“Maybe we should go inside and see how generous I’m feeling.” I whisper and kiss his lips.

Theo carries me to his office in the back of the restaurant and locks the door behind us.

“Why’d you lock the door?” I ask as he sets me down on top of his desk. “I thought we were the only ones here?”

Theo flashes that wicked smile of his. “I’m not taking anymore chances of us being interrupted. Tonight, you’re mine.”
