“Navy.”

He nods in agreement. “Good call.”

I watch him get dressed from the comfort of his bed, admiring how he always looks so put together. When he’s finally dressed in his usual slacks, black dress shoes, and a watch that shines on his wrist, he looks at me for approval.

“What do you think?” he asks.

I grin, unable to withhold it anymore. I could lay there and look at this man forever, but if he stays any longer, I’m going to want to drag him into bed with me so he can fuck me wearing his tailored clothes. He looks sophisticated, powerful, and downright sexy.

“Perfect,” I say.

He smirks and walks to the side of the bed, leaning over to kiss me again, and the smell of his cologne, combined with the smoky bourbon of his skin, nearly sends me over the edge.

“The car keys are on the hook by the door,” he says. “I’ll see you at the restaurant.”

He stands there for another second, his jaw working like he wants to say something else, but he finally abandons the idea and tips his head. “Be careful, babydoll.”

Then he slips out of the bedroom into the hall, leaving me alone.

With nothing to do and no urgency to leave, I lounge around Alessandro’s house in nothing but his T-shirt before finally dozing off again in his bed around noon. Since no one is here to notice, I gather all his blankets up into a tiny, makeshift nest, pulling the pillows in around me before nestling in the middle.

It’s been so long since I’ve had the luxury of a proper nest, the closest thing I’ve had being the cluttered backseat of my car, and the instant comfort it brings is enough to lull me to sleep almost instantly.

Thankfully, there are no nightmares this time, no bad dreams with familiar, evil faces that haunt me. There’s only a peaceful darkness that relaxes my mind, and when I wake up, I’m starving and in need of caffeine.

I raid the kitchen again, scrounging up some coffee and a sandwich before tossing my work clothes in for a quick wash. While they’re drying, I soak in Alessandro’s shower, letting the hot water pelt my back and melt away any lingering anxiety from the day before. Then, reluctantly, I get ready for work.

I wing my eyes a little sharper and paint my lips a dark, rosy pink, the thought of seeing Alessandro shortly dancing in my mind. I don’t care how many days in a row I see him at the restaurant or how many nights I spend naked with him in his bed, it’ll never be enough. I’ll always want more, especially now that we’ve gotten past the awkwardness that existed between us for weeks and we’re finally on speaking terms again.

Speaking and fucking terms.

I’m sure tonight at work will be very different from the last few weeks. If I’m lucky, he might drag me into the office to scold me again…

At the thought of Alessandro clearing off his desk to bend me over it, my core throbs, and I realize I need to make another appointment at the clinic. The heat suppressant is supposed to be taken once a month, and I’m getting dangerously close to my next injection date.

However, if I plan to come clean to Alessandro soon, will I even need to worry about more suppressants? Should I just let it wear off and tell him the truth?

I guess I’ll decide after our conversation tonight.

After I tell him I’m an omega.

I can hardly believe I’m going to go through with this, but I know if anything permanent is going to exist between us, it has to happen.

He has to know the truth.

I just have to work up the courage to tell him. After that, it’ll be up to him. Hopefully, he can forgive me for lying, and he’ll understand why I had to do it. Otherwise, I have no idea what I’ll do.

I don’t think I can deal with the rejection.

Once I’m dressed and my makeup and hair are fixed perfectly, I grab the keys to the Lexus and head out to the driveway. I’m terrified to drive Alessandro’s car, my hand shaking as I hit the button to unlock the doors, but he says he trusts me.

At least one of us does.

I don’t know what year it is, but it’s a newer model. Everything is touchscreen and automatic, whereas mine still has a CD player. It’s gorgeous and sleek, looking like it just rolled off the showroom floor, aside from the round air freshener hanging from the rearview mirror.
