“No. You’re rather robotic. You need to loosen up.”

“Easy for you to say. You want to try?”

“No way.”

She kept going, focusing on maintaining a more natural gait, but her feet hurt. “I must look ridiculous.”

“A little, but you’re getting better.”

“Is it supposed to hurt this much?”

“The price of beauty.”

“Shut up.”

He laughed, then joined her in her path, taking her hand to lead her on the next round. She squeezed his fingers, using him for better balance.

“You ready for a spin?” he said with a grin.

“What?” Her eyes widened. “No. No spinning. Don’t spin me. I’m serious. Don’t you dare.”

“Come on, it will be fun.” He lifted her arm and twisted her under it. She followed as best as she could, stuttering her steps to keep from tripping, but it was no good. She fell into him.

She couldn’t get the heels back under her, and Will had to lift her to set her back upright.

“Sorry.” He kept laughing. “I couldn’t help myself.”

“You’re mean.” She didn’t like that she noticed how good he smelled and the strength of his hands as he settled her back in place. “And cruel. Does Maddy know how cruel you are?”

“Absolutely.”

“You could have broken my ankle. Or was that what you were going for? You still trying to take me out of this?”

“No. I’m not that complicated. If I was completely against it, I’d just refuse to be involved.”

She sat down and pulled the shoes off, rubbing her feet. “Can we get a masseuse in here?”

“You want taxpayers paying for that?”

She flopped back onto the seat. “But they hurt,” she whined.

“Better get used to it.”

“What do we do now?”

“If I were you, I’d put those shoes back on and keep up the good work.”

“You’re joking, right?”

“The faster you get proficient at walking, the faster we can move on to other things.”

“So, you’ve got nothing else for me tonight?”

“Nope. I’ll have more for you in the morning.”

“Where are you going?”

“I’ve got work to do.”
