Elizabeth slid her hand into his. “I think we can find a solution together, honey.”
Rylee beamed at them. “Finally decided to be together. So glad.”
Canaan’s nostrils flared. “Don’t start. We have all of this shit to clean up.”
“I called Judge Cortez on the flight over. I have it on good authority that arrest warrants have already been issued for Jordan, Bella, Stanley and Toby Evans, and the senior brass at FAS. They won’t be bothering us anytime soon. Wilder will be doing hostile takeovers of both companies as soon as the sun rises.”
She took a chocolate bar out of her back pocket and tore into it. “Now, I believe I’ve done my part. You two have the rest under control. Isn’t this what you do in your little games? Go on quests? Think of getting all those guys going to maximum security prisons as a very noble quest.” She winked at them before flying the chopper away as if she had never been there at all.
“She’s always been a pain in my ass. Came over just to tell me I’m fucked.”
“You’re not,” Elizabeth insisted. “We can fix this.” She kissed him gently. “Now, how do we get these guys away from our place?”
Canaan grinned. “I’ll make a call.”

The compound wastheirplace, and just like on one of their quests, they had succeeded together.
TWENTY-SIX
ELIZABETH
Two hours.
That’s how long it had been since her past with Jordan had finally come to an end.
Was that long enough? Who cared? She was over it, and she was more than ready to start the new chapter of her life.
With Canaan.
She smiled to herself. The man was so stubborn that he would probably kick up a fuss and insist that they wait a little longer. She wouldn’t have it. Resolved, she made her way to his bedroom.
“Knock, knock,” Elizabeth said as her knuckles rapped against his door. She gave him a shy smile.
“Are you okay, Queenie? Need something?”
“Yes,” she replied with a firm nod. “You.”
Canaan’s jaw dropped. “What?”
“You said that once everything was done and I had time to process, I should find you and that we would be mates.”
He shook his head. “I don’t think that’s what I said.”
“Maybe not, but it’s what you’ve been hoping. That I would choose you. That I would choose to spend my life with you.”
“We barely just ended the fight to get your life back. You need time.”
“I don’t need time, Canaan. All I need is you. You and all of the things we do together. There is no other man in the world I could fall in love with so quickly and so completely. I started to fall for you long before we met. I just didn’t know how to accept it because I didn’t trust myself anymore.”
She cupped his face in her hands. “You gave me the greatest gift. I can trust myself again, thanks to you. And the first thing I want to do with that trust in my instincts is give myself to you. Forever.”
“I don’t want you to feel like you have to do this.”
“Iwantto do this. I’ve fallen in love with you, Canaan. I want to be with you forever.”
His jaw ticked as he reached out to brush his knuckles against her cheek. “You’ve fallen in love with me?”
