Page 43 of Reckless Abandon

Wes untangles himself from my hold and sets me down, placing a gentle kiss on the top of my head as he does. “Easy there baby, you’re giving the lobby quite the show.” He smirks at me, knowing damn well I’m not opposed to onlookers.

“What are you doing here? I mean, I can’t believe you’re actually here!” I beam up at him.

“Are you kidding me? I was ready to jump on a damn plane the day after you left.”

Gah, I love this man… I smile and wrap my arms around his neck. “Wesley King, you certainly are something special.”

“Anything for you, my little Thea,” he whispers, trailing intimate kisses down my neck, right to my sensitive spot. My body flushes with heat, conscious of how skilled his mouth truly is.

I hear a throat clear next to us and am reminded that we’re not alone. I take a peek over my shoulder to see Blossom standing there with my discarded bag and phone. “Are you two about ready to breathe yet? Plus, it's getting really hot watching you two reconnect and all, but I think maybe it should be somewhere a little more private.”

Wiggling my way out of his hold, I wink at Bloss and take my purse out of her arms. I don’t want her to feel as if I’m just going to ditch her. “Wes, we were about to head out for some drinks. Come on, we’ll take you to one of our favorite spots?” I say while looping one arm through Blossom’s and the other through Wesley’s.

“No, no, I don’t need to go. You two have fun,” she says, trying to wiggle her arm free.

“Oh, no you don’t,” Wes pipes up, wrapping his arm over both of our shoulders from behind. “I wouldn’t want to ruin your plans, plus I have Sloan all weekend.”

Giving Blossom my best puppy dog eyes, I try to coax her into coming. I know her and how she gets. She would never want to intrude on Wes and me. So, I need to make sure she knows she’s more than welcome.

“Okay, if you think you’re ready to drink with us… just so you know, a night at Los Borachos basically means we’re too drunk to function by eight,” Blossom explains.

“Oh, I'm well trained in putting drunken friends to bed. I lost count of the number of times I’ve had to take care of her sister and brother…” Wes laughs and I do too, thinking about how wild Eli and Maddie used to be.

I wavemy hands to avoid the next shot of Patron being passed down the bar to me. Hiccup. “Nope, nope, I can't do it,” I groan as I pick up the shot glass off of the bar. “Ugh, whose idea was this, anyway?”

Blossom and Wes laugh as they down their shots with ease. I cringe as I take what I believe must be the fifth or sixth shot of the evening. I try to keep a poker face to show I'm a team player, when in reality, I feel like an amateur compared to these two.

Blossom smacks Wes in the arm to gain his attention. “I really am glad I wound up coming out with you two tonight, otherwise, who would be your drinking partner?” She laughs as she slides a glass of ice water my way. See, this is why I love this chick. She knows exactly what I need and when I need it. Wes drapes his arm over my shoulder, and I nestle into his chest, inhaling his intoxicating scent. He places a sweet kiss on my head and turns his attention back to Blossom. I mouth a thank you to her and blow a kiss while she and Wes settle into an easy conversation.

“So, Lo tells me you grew up here in L.A.?” Wes asks Blossom as I enjoy listening to them get to know one another. “Yes, actually, not far from here. Ma moved here when she was a teenager. She had me pretty young…”

I'mstartled awake when the cab stops abruptly. Groaning and rubbing my head, I realize I hit it on the window. I hear Wes chuckle from the seat next to me and I swat my hand at him. “Not funny sir. Where are we?”

“We're back at your place. Come on, beautiful, let me put you to bed.” Wes grabs my hand and helps me shimmy out of the cab and onto the curb. He turns to hand the driver some bills, then hooks his arm with mine and we head up to my apartment. Oh god, I hope it's clean in there. “Just a warning. I have no recollection of what state my apartment is currently in. I left in a hurry and there’s no telling what I left out.”

He just shakes his head and smiles as we enter the elevator. “I'm sure it is fine. Nothing can scare me after living in that shared condo for a year.”

“You lived in a share house?” I raise my eyebrow in question. “How did I not know this?”

“We weren’t exactly on the best terms when I first moved to L.A., so I don’t think we ever talked about it. My management company owned the condo. They rented it out to us newbies to help us out. It was fun for a while, but I was glad to get out once I saved up enough.”

I can't help the way my face contorts at hearing this news.

“Why is that a shock to you?” He chuckles.

“You're so meticulous, I could never picture you sharing your space with more than one or two people. How many people lived in the house?”

He laughs, knowing damn well I'm right. Mr. Wesley King is a neat freak, and that's putting it lightly. “On average, I would say around eight guys or so. It would fluctuate every few months.”

“Wow! That's a shitload of dicks,” I drunkenly mutter as the elevator dings on my floor.

Wes busts out laughing at me. “Yeah, it certainly was a lot of dicks. Thankfully, we each had our own rooms, so it wasn't too bad.”

“I don't think I could have lived with that many vaginas. Having Quinn and Ava was enough.” I laugh at myself as I attempt to let us into my apartment, fumbling with the keys countless times before Wes takes them and opens the door.
