My grip on my phone feels like a permanent fixture today. So, the minute it vibrates, I am flipping it over, hoping to see Thea read across the screen.
Instead, I see the one name that could make this day even worse…Danni Winters.
Ignoring her phone call because I definitely don’t have time for her crap today… until a text pops up right as I hop out of my cab in front of the hotel.
Danni Winters: You may not want to ignore me right now. I am currently looking at your little girlfriend sitting with another very good-looking man.
Immediately calling her with the off chance that she is telling the truth.
“I knew that would get your attention.”
“Don’t play games with me Danni. Where the fuck are you?”
“I’m at this fun members-only club with a new friend of mine. I was so shocked when I saw Sloan cozied up in the corner with another man.” I hang up on her because I don’t want to give her the satisfaction of telling me anymore information.
The words Members Only have my blood thrumming through my veins a little harder. She must be telling the truth. That’s the place Sloan wants to buy, but the person she was buying it from definitely isn’t a man.
Fuck that… I know exactly what goes down in that place. I need to find a way in there and stat, but I know just the right guy to call.
Thankfully Trevor picks up when I call, “Hey Wes. What’s up?”
“Are you busy? I need a huge favor.” Grabbing my keys, I head out to the parking garage… wanting the privacy of my own car tonight.
“I have plans later, but not busy right now. What’s going on? You hurt?”
“No… I’m good.” Naturally being the doctor on call for half of the rich people in New York has him jumping to that conclusion.
“I need you to get me into the club…Members Only. Like right now.”
“Damn dude, I know you aren’t starving for a good time that bad. Why the rush?”
“My girl is there, and she thinks I cheated on her last night.”
“Shit, okay. Give me thirty.”
“Make it twenty and I’ll buy you whatever you want tonight.” He chuckles in response to my wager, but I’m serious.
“I’ll get there as fast as I can, Wes.”
“One more thing… where is this place?” I say as I approach my Audi in the garage.
“I’ll send you the address.”
“Thanks man, I owe you.”
“Nah, you’re good. I was going up there tonight anyway… my favorite bartender is working, and I don’t want to wait till she gets off to see her.”

As soon aswe walk through the door, I don’t even take the time to appreciate the view of the place… my eyes zone in looking for the other half of my heart.
It doesn’t take me long to spot her… the most beautiful woman in the room.
She’s sitting alone in the corner with a large man in a black suit. The way she is so intensely listening to him, not taking her eyes off his, has my skin crawling.
Not giving a fuck who this guy is, I bulldoze my way across the room straight for their cozy red love seat.
Feeling enough rage to flip every table in this room over.
