After breakfast, with all of us stuffed beyond capacity, Charlie and I go back to our room and lie down. I’m on my back with Charlie draped over me, my arm resting on her waist.

“I love this,” she mumbles sleepily.

For the first time in my life, the stillness doesn’t make me uneasy or bored. I’m content being able to lie with her in my arms and daydream about the life we have ahead of us.

“Last one in is a rotten Englishman with a pasty complexion,” Lucy calls, running for the dock.

Charlie laughs, giving Jude a not-so-apologetic look before she kisses me and runs after her friend.

There’s nothing much to do around here, so we’re making it a lake day again. Any day I get to see my girl in that fuck-hot red bikini is a win, so I don’t mind another lazy day drinking beers and lounging by the water.

“Have you heard anything from your brother?” I ask Jude after we situate ourselves on the beach chairs.

With no cell reception, I didn’t expect much contact. Of course, Liam gave Jude a satellite phone for emergencies, but the thing hasn’t gone off once.

“No, but I figure no news is good news.”

Liam, being the cagey asshole that he is, told Ozzy if anything were to happen on the Jace or Italian front to call him, and he would get in touch with Jude. Ozzy didn’t like the idea of not being able to talk to his men any time he needed, instead having to use Liam as the go-between, but what could we do? Liam’s house, Liam’s rules.

“He really wants to make sure no one knows about this place, huh?”

“It’s his personal safe house, so yeah. If he ever has to lie low, he needs to make sure it’s one hundred percent off the grid with only a select few even knowing it exists, let alone where it is.”

Looking over the small lake, I see Charlie emerging from the water like a goddess, all that wet skin and gorgeous curves with those tiny ties on her bottoms just begging to be loosened by my teeth. Shit, these shorts don’t do shit to hide my rapidly hardening length.

When she reaches me, I grab her hand and pull her on top of me. Charlie laughs and leans down for a kiss.

“I’m getting you all wet,” she says as I run my nose along the column of her throat.

“I don’t mind a bit,” I reply, biting her earlobe.

She giggles and sits up to reach into the cooler for a beer.

“Shit, we’re out. I’ll run up and grab a few.”

“Here, take my seat. I’ll go,” I say as I begin to move her off me.

“No, it’s okay. I’ll be right back.” She smacks a loud kiss on my lips and hops off my lap.

I turn and watch her biteable ass as she makes her way to the cabin.

“You’re in love with her,” Jude comments from next to me.

If he thought his observation would shock or surprise me, he’s wrong. When Charlie and I made love this morning, I felt her deep in my bones. I didn’t try to deny it to myself then, and I’m certainly not going to deny it now.

“Yup. And when we get back, I’m going to make her my old lady,” I reply with a confident smirk.

Jude doesn’t say anything else, just nods and looks back over the water.

“Where’d Charlie go?” Lucy asks, casting a shadow over Jude.

“You’re blocking my sun, Lucifer.”

“Oh, I’m so sorry, your highness. I didn’t realize you owned the damn sun.” She doesn’t move.

“She went to grab more beers.”

I look behind me and expect to see her coming back, but there’s nothing but silence.
