She’s wearing a nightgown, a little pink floral thing. Hardly brushes her knees. It’s like she wants me to look with the lack of scolding.

Dinner and rest. That’s all we’re doing. I swear I won’t touch her, not even if she asks. I’m mentally strong and won’t take advantage of our situation. I have to wait until she’s healed up and not exhausted.

There’s another thump of her boot, but this time it sounds closer. When I realize she’s limping toward me, I want to carry her back over to the stool and demand she stop moving. Instead, I freeze, stiffening when she touches my back. Her touch burns and I groan in the back of my throat when her touch drags down my spine.

What happened to the shy woman I fell in love with? She’s become far more confident in knowing what she wants. Bold or not, her cheeks are stained pink.

“It’s almost done,” I grunt out, trying my damned hardest to keep my eyes on the mixture of noodles and vegetables. What kind of meat did I throw in here? I can’t even remember.

Her hand abandons my back and she walks up to my counter and flattens her hands against it. She grunts when she tries to lift herself.

“Fuck, stop, what are you doing?” I huff out as I’m already at her side.

“I want to sit,” she answers nonchalantly like I didn’t catch her failing terribly.

“On the counter?” My breathing catches. “If the stool isn’t comfortable enough, I can grab a pillow.”

“I can’t see you back there.” In defiance, she tries to lift herself once more, cursing out in frustration.

I shouldn’t touch her, not without needing to. Knowing how persistent she can be, I give in and twist her around, picking her up before gently setting her down on the counter. She’s high enough to meet my eyes.

She’s smiling and doesn’t waste a second wrapping her arms around my neck. With the way her fingers lock, I realize this is nothing but another ploy to drive me completely insane.

“Cassi…” Warning her, I try to keep some distance between us. I don’t trust myself around this girl and she’s making everything so much harder than it needs to be.

“I really like you,” she admits, looking up at me with those big brown eyes. I’ve never noticed the golden flecks in them before. Her mouth twists as her fingers brush the small hairs on the back of my neck. “Tell me you don’t want me. Otherwise, I’m not going to be able to stop liking you.”

Idowant her and that’s the issue. I want her so fucking badly that I want to bury my face between her legs and prove myself to her all night long. She has no idea that I’d worship her until my last breath if she became mine.

“You really don’t think you’d be happier with someone more your age, someone who can keep up with you?’ I rasp, taking a step forward. “You’d be satisfied with me, Cassi?”

“Every single day, I swear.” Her knees bump my hips, leading my body forward to erase the space between us. Once her arms aren’t outstretched, she moves her hands to cradle my face. “I’ve already planned out our wedding too, so you don’t have to worry about all that.”

I kiss her without hesitation. The thought of her being willing to plan the future out is enough to make me break. Cassi is going to be the ruin of me, I swear.

This sweet girl moans the moment I taste her for the first time. She’s cradling my face, palming my beard, and trying her damned hardest to get me closer despite there not being any space left between our bodies.

I don’t know when my hands move down to her hips, but I’m squeezing the hell out of them. She’s got no idea that all it takes is a kiss for my cock to dig harshly against the lower cabinets.

Suddenly, I’m a bit less worried about her injuries and more concerned about taking her now. I’m weak for the woman and she’s taken full advantage of it.

“This is exactly what I thought it would feel like,” she murmurs against my mouth, smiling brightly like she’s won a Nobel prize. She scratches my beard, giggling with her own little discoveries. Then as soon as she’s entertained, she’s kissing me all over again.

I don’t know what it is that she sees in me, but I swear I’m going to do right by her. She wants a wedding, then I’m going to buy her the best ring available. I’ll throw her a whole party. Whatever it takes to give her my last name.

Now she has me planning for a future that is starting to look more achievable than before.

“Wesley is going to hate me,” I murmur, remembering what he told me at his desk. “He’s not going to react too well.”

I’m not expecting her to laugh at my words. Our concerns don’t match, leaving me confused.

“He is well aware of how much I’ve wanted this,” she explains before she buries her nose in my throat. “He wouldn’t let me talk to you because I’ve definitely told him about a fantasy of mine once or twice. My brother didn’t want you to hatehim.”

Fantasy? So Wesley’s always known but never thought to tell me once to end my suffering? How long has she wanted me? How much time do I need to make up for missing out?

There’s a burning smell that catches my attention, postponing my current thought for now.

“Need to get some food in you,” I groan, cursing when she nips at my skin.
