My lips part on an exhale.

I’m not sure which one of us makes the first move, but then his mouth is on mine, and I’m pulled into his lap. I shift so I’m straddling his hips, feeling his hard erection pressed against my pussy as we devour one another.

“I don’t want to talk anymore, Jade,” he breathes against my mouth. “I don’t want to remember. Not now.”

I run my fingers through his hair, tugging his head back. “Then let’s forget. Together.”

Tonight.

And that’s exactly what we do.

CHAPTERTHIRTY-FOUR

JADE

Hotshot: Having N quiz me isn’t half as fun as when you do it.

Me: Did you tell him that?

Hotshot: Hell no. You want me to return in one piece, right?

Me: Depends on which piece we’re talking about *smirk*

Hotshot: You’d seriously take me in pieces?

I’d take you any way I can get you.

The words ring in my mind as my fingers hover over the keyboard. Not like I can say that to him. Not when I know that Prescott and I don’t have a future.

Borrowed time.

That’s all this could ever be.

Borrowed time.

The front door opens, snapping me out of my thoughts as Yasmin marches into the room.

“I hate football.” Yasmin sits down on the couch next to me, crosses her arms over her chest, and lets out a loud huff.

“Well, hello, to you, too.”

Yasmin completely ignores me and continues on. “Like, who got to decide that football will take over all of our lives for six months straight?”

Letting out a sigh, I close my laptop and lean back. “Somebody who likes to torture us?”

“Damn right! I swear if I had that person in front of me, I’d give them a piece of my mind.”

I press my lips together, trying to hold back my laughter as I nod. “I’m sure you would.”

“Of course I would. They’re so—” She turns to me, her eyes narrowed. “Jade Devney Cole, are you laughing at me?”

“I would never.”

“You’re laughing at me.” She lets her head fall back against the couch and covers her face with her palms, letting out a loud groan.

“Okay, maybe just a teeny, tiny bit.” I grab her hand and tug it back. “But seriously, what did football do to you?”

Yasmin pouts, “It took away Nixon.”
