Yeah, she could tell.

The man stared out the window and wasn’t saying anything else.

Well, it looked as if they were done talking for now. That was fine with her.

Elizabeth had ninety-nine problems, and this man being bitchy wasn’t one of them. This city was about to blow with her Hunters in it.

As they headed toward the square Tommy actually sat forward as if he saw something that caught his attention.

Elizabeth looked.

Standing on the one corner were two very familiar people.

Her husband.

And Gene.

It was when Gene kissed her husband and then rested his forehead on his that she glanced over at Tommy.

He.

Looked.

Pissed.

While it bothered him, it didn’t faze her.

Why?

She’d seen Ethan do the same thing to Chris, Callen, and her. It was clear where he learned that tenderness from. Gene was just taking a moment.

She’d done it too.

She kissed Dakota on occasion, and she trusted her husband. Elizabeth knew that the two men were always going to be tied together and vital to the other’s survival. They were forged in pain, and that trauma made them.

Gene was the man Ethan had loved and was committed to before he found her.

That wasn’t something she could ignore or be angry with. The heart loved who it loved.

Ethan’s still loved Gene.

Would this be something they had to discuss in the future?

Likely.

Was she worried?

No.

Gene saved Ethan when he needed it, and now, Ethan would try to save Gene.

“He’s already moved on,” Tommy whispered. “With the exact man that I thought he’d cheat with.”

Holy shit.

Did he think that kiss was cheating?

Really?
