He shrugged.

“I like the police station. It’s home to me. I miss being there.”

Uh-oh.

That wasn’t going to be a good thing.

She could already tell.

This just reinforced her belief that Tommy couldn’t hold up as a Hunter.

Immediately, she pulled out her phone and rattled off a text to her husband, alerting him as to where she was heading so that he’d not worry about her.

When she tucked it away, Ivan was watching her in the rearview mirror.

He’d updated her via text before they left the house that Ethan was safe in Jackson Square.

“Yes, Igor?” she asked.

“Do you want to rendezvous with the other security and Ethan?” Ivan asked. “Is he joining you at the police station?”

She shook her head.

“No, he can find his way to the hotel. As long as Saint and Raph are with him, I’m not going to worry. They’ll keep him safe. We’ll meet up there.”

At the mention of a hotel, that had Tommy’s full attention. Was Gene going to a hotel with Ethan?

Alone?

What?

Jesus.

Now, he had to know.

“Is Gene still with him?” Tommy asked. “Since they left to go handle something for Ethan?”

She knew he was.

“Likely. Ethan has his own business to handle in the city,” she said, sticking with what he’d said before he left. She was well aware that was business of a personal nature.

Gene.

Elizabeth knew that Gene was special to Ethan, and always would be. He’d created the man her husband was today by teaching him with love.

They were all grateful for Gene.

At her words, Tommy knew what business that would be. Gene was likely fawning away and having sex with Ethan. There was no doubt that he’d do it in a heartbeat.

It irritated him to know that Gene would be dominating someone else in bed. It pissed him off that he could never live up to Ethan’s time with Gene.

Elizabeth could see the scowl.

“Would you like some coffee?” she asked, willing to stop and get him some.

Maybe it would improve his mood.

“No, but thank you. I’m not feeling it.”
