Fed Versus ME
Again, she was being forced to wait for someone to do their damn job.
Once more, Elizabeth was sitting there waiting for the ME running this morgue to release the bodies to her.
Doctor Asher Strong was taking his good old sweet time and on her nerves.
So, since she couldn’t get the man to move any faster, she checked in with her brother at the hotel.
When she called him, he answered on the first ring.
“Yo. Sister from the same mister, what’s up?” Duke asked.
He’d just gotten off the phone with his wife, who told him that if he got killed, she was resurrecting him, using his body as a pinata, and possibly killing him again.
Their marriage…
It was spicy.
That told him one thing, and one thing only. His sister had stirred her up. Nothing got Axelle wickedly worked up like Elizabeth.
“Are you in and safe?”
He laughed.
“That’s funny, my wife just asked me the same question as if I wasn’t a cop for years, and working as a Fed who chases crazies. Why do you have to make her crazy?”
She snorted.
“It’s fun?”
“Uh-huh, for who? Not me.”
She couldn’t help it.
“She’s getting me a few things that I need here, and I had to tell her why I needed her to kidnap a seventy-six-year-old woman from a nursing home.”
He stopped her.
“Pardon? No. You know what? I don’t want to know what you’re doing. I’m pretty sure Dad is rolling in his grave as you try to pull this one off.”
Oh, Charlie was likely doing just that.
“You’re likely not wrong. That’s why I need to make sure all my ducks are inside. Where’s Ethan?”
Duke was honest.
