Remington laughed.

“I’d like to get on top of this,” he said, holding the paper. “Before it goes crazy here.”
“That’s what she said,” Jinx offered.
The whole room burst into laughter, and Remington joined them. He’d walked right into that one.
For him, all of this was bizarre.
It was weird for him to have a family like this. It was always surreal that these people cared, loved, and would protect him.
As ex-CIA, he was accustomed to survival all on his own since he was out in the world without people having his back. He was always taking care of himself, but this was his family, and they would hold him up.

And he loved every one of the chucklefucks to the depths of his soul. Remington knew that if he called for help, they’d be there.

“Are we done?” he asked.

They knew that Calyx had her sights set on him and she wasn’t letting go.

A woman would have to be crazy not to fall for his boy-next-door good looks, and that easy smile.
