Jagger whistled.
There was a look on the man’s face, and not a good one. That Gene was nowhere to be found, and hadn’t come back with Ethan yet…
Not good.
“Uh, what is that about?” Jagger asked. “He looked pissed and ready to shoot people. I’ve never seen him like that before. Normally, he’s…nice.”
Elizabeth sighed.
“Do you want the long or short version?” she asked. “Because we got issues, Hunters. Lots and lots of issues.”
Zayn grinned.
“The one with the juiciest details,” Zayn said, rubbing his hands together.
She focused on the big man.
“You are such a yenta. Has anyone ever told you that, Grandma?”
Maura laughed.
Oh, they all had.
Repeatedly.
Out of all of them, Zayn loved to gossip the most. That was his favorite thing next to Stella and his babies. He got all happy when someone gave him some information he could giggle about.
Zayn shrugged.
“I gotta be me. Come on. Just tell us.”
Dakota knew Elizabeth was tense. She was rolling her shoulder, and she only did that if she got hurt or was tense as fuck.
This would be the latter.
“Lyzbeth, he lives with us, and we don’t like when something is off. That means a fight, and we need to prepare ourselves to pick sides in a war.”
They all stared at Dakota.
“What?” he asked. “When you bitches fight, we all pick sides. Sue me. I like Maura, Jinx, Eve, and Merry over the rest of you judgy assholes.”
The men laughed.
From where she stood, Elizabeth lowered her voice and prepared to tell them.
Honestly, Elizabeth wanted to get back to the hotel so she could micromanage Ethan and Gene—not them being alone, but getting everything put into play.
“Okay, here’s the abridged. Gene and Tommy broke up. Gene is going back North to be a Fed, and Tommy is rejoining the police again here. As in he’s going back into the lion’s den to prove the mother of all asinine points.”
They all gasped.
Oh, lordy, but that was one hell of a decision, and they knew it.
