No one said jack.

Well, here went everything.

“If you let Doctor Poe Seville come here, a trauma therapist recommended by my personal friend, Doctor Callista Gaines, I’ll give you what’s in the boxes.”

Immediately, Maura felt a little better.

Her sister-in-law was a Fed, and Callie wouldn’t risk them. She would keep them safe because she was loyal to not only her but Elizabeth.

“Callie approves of her?”

“Him. Poe is a man, and he’s one of the best therapists for people who have experienced the kind of trauma that Gamble lived through. If anyone can help him navigate this, it would be him.

“Search him,” Maura said.

Merry pulled up the man’s name on MATE, and they saw who they were dealing with.

“A nerd?” Zayn asked. “Well, he’s not ambushing anything but a textbook.”

Elizabeth pointed at him.

“He’s a brilliant man and has a few doctorates and masters. He’s difficult to get sessions with because EVERYONE wants his help.”

“I mean, he’s a nerd so…”

She sighed.

“How do you guys deal with him?” she asked.

Jagger laughed.

“We ask ourselves that daily. Trust me.”

Elizabeth schooled him.

“He’s not a nerd. He’s a doctor. When he starts helping Gamble, don’t talk to him, okay? Because we don’t have a lot of options in this situation. If he gets worse, he has to go to inpatient.”

Oh, they knew what that meant.

Marines who went into the VA for cuckoo help, never came out the same. They lithium’d them, and then they ended up eating their guns.

Maura handled it.

“He’s allowed to come here.”

Zayn shushed her.

“She hasn’t given us the goods yet. You suck at negotiations.”

Elizabeth rolled her eyes.

“I have a headache,” she said, pointing at the big man not far from her.

Well, then, Zayn got down to business because he wanted to see what was in the cases.

“Are they guns?” Zayn asked, bouncing excitedly even though he was trying not to look like he was curious.

“Maybe.”
