“I love you too, Baby.”

And there it was.

Dakota calmed right down.

“Look at the Snake charming the man,” Jinx said. “That’s a twist.”

When he put his wife down, Dakota still hovered. He was doing his best to keep the caveman to a minimum, but he’d be lying if he said he wasn’t scared stupid his new wife would get hurt.

It had only been two weeks, and he couldn’t drop the ball. Eve was carrying his son. That boy was being born if he had to burn the city to the ground or sell his soul to Satan himself.

“One day, she’ll listen,” he said. “I hope I’m alive to see it.”

Eve wasn’t having that.

Adder was good at staying safe.

“You have nothing to worry about, Dak. I’m good,” she reassured. “Besides, maybe if you’re a good boy, I’m wearing that gear to bed.”

Dakota laughed.

“Not in front of the children, Baby,” he said, pointing at Zayn—who flipped him off.

Elizabeth glanced at her watch.

“Are we even? Did this help soothe the ruffled feathers?” she asked.

Zayn was playing with one of the guns.

“Yep,” he said. “I’m good. We’ll just shoot the doctor if he makes me suspicious.”

God.

She hoped not.

Changing the subject, she focused on the ex-Fed.

“What did you find, Remmy? Other than a wayward vacuum hose to leave that big ol’ hickey on your neck. Someone had to be compliant for that mouth-on-neck action.”

He laughed.

Only, before he could say anything, Zayn did.

“He was Calyx-ed but good. Finally. See how calm he is? We like this version. He’s not hiding in a corner with his hood North and his mood South.”

He pointed.

“I’m sure Elizabeth has no time to hear about that and wants to know about the names that we were given.”

She saved him.

“What Elizabeth wants to know is if Merry found the addresses attached to those names so you chucklefucks can get to work and FIND ARTEMIS before her BFF the Russian asshole gets here to put holes in Maura, Jagger, and Jinx. The last thing we need is Mikey O’ running wild in the city trying to steal it back from a Russian mob man.”

That did what she’d intended.

Jagger and Rogue didn’t like that at all. The idea that their wives were in danger…

Nope.
