In the other room, she found Milo’s wallet, the woman’s purse, and the man’s gun. She unscrewed her silencer and put it on his gun, so when the cops figured it out, they’d be confused.

To really throw them off, she dipped some tissues in the blood, and on the white wall, she made one hell of a Z.

The mystery menace struck again.

Apparently.

Then, they grabbed the dead couple’s phones and went out the back the way Adder had entered.

Below, on the street, they linked arms, tried to look like just two teenagers wandering around, and headed toward their car parked down the street.

“And we are clear,” Eve said, waving at some people like she knew them to blend in.

“Cops,” Jinx said as police cars raced past them to the general location of where the software alerted there was a shooting.

“You guys good?” Maura asked.

“Yep,” Eve said as they reached the car and Jinx hopped behind the wheel of the luxury sportscar.

When they pulled out, and were far enough away, Eve hit a button on the little black box that she’d been carrying.

First, the cameras in the neighborhood went back on, and then, there was a small explosion in the apartment.

The street was rocked with the sound of glass blowing out, and the bodies inside…

Yeah.

Now, the place was sanitized.

“Did someone just blow something up without me?” Zayn asked. “I know you two Snakes wouldn’t do me dirty like that. I love blowing shit up.”

“Calm your titties,” Jagger said. “You can blow up something else later.”

He actually grinned.

Yeah, this group was a mixed bag of loco.

That was for damn sure.

Eve laughed.

“We’re clear.”

Mamba clued them in.

“We’re heading to the next house,” she said, checking in. “Get us that information on the other man.”

“Four is his end of shift,” Merry said. “He clocked in this morning, like nothing was going on, and I can see by last week’s timecard, he’s out of there by four at the latest.”

Perfect.

“You know where we’ll be,” she stated. “Give us some time to handle the two men.”

“Be careful,” Dakota warned.

“Yeah, Jinx. I mean it,” her husband added.

Oh, they would. The family had nothing to worry about
