“Newsflash, Gene, but as a heads-up, I’ve seen you naked a few times over the seven years we were living together as a couple. I’ve also seen your ass too so…”

“You shouldn’t be in here while I’m naked.”

What he wanted to say was that it killed him to see the man in the rumpled bed.

He missed being with this man. He missed his kindness, his sweetness, and the way he knew his way around his body. Time had gone by so fast that it stole his breath.

They were both older, and time…it was slipping away.

From where he was lounged, Ethan wasn’t worried.

He knew his wife, and besides, he was fully dressed. Elizabeth was logical, and there was nothing going on. He wasn’t married to a jealous woman, like she wasn’t married to a jealous man.

“Ready to talk?” he asked, patting the bed.

Oh, Gene wanted nothing more than to climb into that bed, lay in Ethan’s arms, and let him heal a piece of him. After Preston died, Ethan showed up in New Orleans, and he’d stayed with him a few days.

He’d handled the funeral arrangements.

Ethan had held him up, taking care of him.

Now, he felt bad about making him do this all over again.

“Not particularly. There’s nothing to discuss. Tommy has decided what he wants, and I decided what I want. I can’t be here and watch him die. I have to detach.”

Ethan patted the bed again.

“Put on some boxers and join me.”

He stared at him like he was crazy.

“Let me get this straight. You want me to get into bed with you while I’m only in my boxers? Are you trying to get us both murdered by your wife? Dude, you’re a married Native.”

He laughed and joked.

“Me with a man turns her on. You’ll be safe. Trust me. If she asks to watch, don’t be offended.”
