As for how he acted, it wasn’t his fault.

He had a sexy wife.

When the water went on, he grinned and snuck out of the cuffs to sneak toward the shower.

She shouldn’t have gotten rough.

Now, he wanted her all over again.

When would his wife learn?

Apparently, never.

Chapter Fourteen

Hotel Monteleone

Hemmingway Penthouse

Monday

Afternoon

Y eah, it had been a quiet afternoon at the hotel. Both he and Gene had been there for hours, and not a word had been spoken between them. Someone was not in the mood to talk about what was happening, and for the last few hours, Ethan had given him space.

When they returned from being out, Gene disappeared into one of the bedrooms and rested. Ethan let him go, understanding that when someone needed space to think, he should respect that.

They’d been a couple long enough years ago to know that was what Gene preferred.

If Gene needed him, he’d come find him or make it known he was wandering around.

They’d been to this rodeo before.

A few times.

When Gene’s father had died, he’d done pretty much the same thing. When he mourned, he liked to do it by himself, and he understood that.

The man in the other room was a thinker, and Ethan knew that he’d want to have some time. Whenever they’d had a disagreement, or a fight, they’d part ways, calm down, and then talk it out.

It was only a matter of time.

As he was sitting there, doing up a profile for Callen regarding the case he was working without them, he heard Gene walking around.

Oh, someone was not sleeping anymore.

He was up.

Rolling his way, Ethan listened, and he heard the shower go on.

Okay, it was about time they had a talk.

Turning the knob, it wasn’t locked, so Ethan took that as his cue.

He rolled into the room, parked next to the bed, and climbed out of the chair.

He’d been resting his legs in case his wife needed him up to strength for anything later.

Now, he was going to park his ass on that rumpled bed until his friend came out.
