They all laughed, as she passed that buck.

From where the big Native stood, he was curious.

“What do we do with the bodies?” Zayn asked. “The gators will handle some, but Eve hung one like a pinata.”

She considered it.

“May I make a suggestion?” she asked.

“Sure,” Zayn said.

“If I were to suggest that a bunch of mercenaries might want to put all the bodies inside the building, make them look like they sang, and then leave them for a certain Russians so he had to clean up…would that make me a bad person? I’m sure he paid for this place, so why not leave him a welcome present?”

They all laughed.

“And that sounds like fun,” Zayn said. “Let’s go get the bodies,” he said, skipping away like a lunatic.

That was their Zayn.

Crazy as the day was long.

Jagger just shook his head.

“He’s fucking insane and shouldn’t be allowed to have pointy objects.”

She snorted.

“I know. I don’t know what the hell Ethan was thinking when he read that file on him. Someone had some questionable judgment that day.”

Thank God for that.

As they took care of the location, Elizabeth let them put a bound, beaten Artemis in the cargo hold with Saint. He moved to the back to watch her.

“If she moves, knock her ass back out. I don’t want to hear her say a goddamn word.”

He grinned.

“I like when you come to NOLA. We get to have fun.”

Ivan laughed.

“Said no sane person ever.”

She hopped in, and Ivan glanced over at her. She was checking on Artemis’ mother.

“For once, you didn’t get into a shootout or fight. This has to be a first.”

She shrugged.

“Well, it’s not over. Wait until Axelle hears that I stuffed a Russian mob man’s building full of bodies, and the cops are eventually going to get a call. She’s going to ground me until I’m an adult.”

He snorted.

“You’re ridiculous.”

She gave him a fist bump.

Wasn’t that the damn truth?
