“Well, one because she’s not dead, and she will get up and get mean, and two, this is for Remmy. He decides her fate. We discussed that. You have a dungeon. Where do you want me to put her? A hotel?”

Elizabeth reminded him.

“She ratted his family out to El Gato’s men. He’s the judge. Load her up and we’ll let him decide her fate.”

Elizabeth went over to the older woman. She was oblivious.

“Mom?”

The woman looked over.

“Are you my Artie?” she asked.

She smiled at her.

“Sure am, Mom. Want to go for a ride on a plane in a little bit?” she asked. “We can see the pretty clouds. It’s time to take you home to the nurses.”

She grinned.

“Yes, please, Dear.”

Elizabeth glanced over.

“I’ll make sure her nursing home is paid up until she passes. She shouldn’t suffer because her daughter is a piece of shit traitor to this country.”

They figured as much.

Elizabeth was predictable.

She walked the woman out, and the Marines carried Artemis to transport her. When they were outside, and Ivan pulled up with the blacked-out ride, she helped the elderly lady in.

“Saint, babysit the lady until I can handle some other things.”

He saluted and got in with the older woman.

Elizabeth pushed a button, and all of the Hunters’ phones chimed at the same time.

“What the?” Zayn asked as he pulled out his phone and looked at the message.

‘Forty Million dollars has been deposited in your account.’

It appeared that Artemis’ bank account really was empty, but theirs was not.

“Gabby and Merry found her account. It’s all yours. That’s to keep fighting the good fight. It’s Russian money anyway.”

Jagger appreciated it.

His inheritance kept them safe, but they burned through a lot of cash the last few months hunting Chevy. It was good to replenish the funds.

“Thank you,” he offered.

“It’s my pleasure. If you need more, you know who to ask.”

“You?” Zayn inquired.

She stared at him.

“Fuck no. You have to ask Axelle. She pays for this shitshow. Not me.”
