On the other sofa were seated Tyson and Lara, while Miruna opted for a sofa chair on her father’s right side. Sienna tried to ignore her lack of clothing, but she didn’t miss the slight widening of Jaxon’s eyes when he noticed Miruna only wore a small number of skillfully placed cloths that covered the important areas of the body. It was a wonder her parents allowed her to walk around like that.

“We wanted to talk to you about the reason for your arrival,” Tyson started without beating around the bush.

Jaxon didn’t react, his eyes still glued to Miruna’s flawless body, and Sienna could’ve sworn that he was drooling at the corner of his lips. She took it upon herself to finish the mission, not wanting Jaxon to ruin it.

“If you don’t mind me interrupting, I’d first like to thank you for having us,” Sienna said quickly, giving her full attention to Tyson and Lara, who gave her a small smile. “I know these are difficult and dangerous times, and I appreciate you opening your home to us.”

“I knew your father,” Lara said, speaking for the first time, and with only those few words, Sienna found herself enchanted by her lovely melodic voice. “I knew him since we were little kids. He was my best friend. It’s a shame what happened to him.”

Sienna averted her eyes to the floor for a moment, blinking rapidly to prevent her tears from falling. The topic of the Ryder massacre would never get easier, nor was the judgment she got from people when they found out she sided with her family’s murderers. The Carringtons had their reasons for what they did, and the Ryders weren’t as good as she believed them to be either. No one was. Life was a mess, and it was up to Sienna to do the best for her and her survival.

“I miss him every moment of every day,” Sienna said with a shaky but firm voice, meeting Lara’s eyes.

Her host’s eyes softened, and she gave her a small nod. “You’re a brave girl. I wish we could’ve done more for you.”

Sienna’s brows furrowed at the finality of her tone. “What do you mean?”

“We know what’s going on and we know why you’re here,” Tyson jumped in. “I know you hoped for more time to talk to us, but something urgent came up and we have to leave in a few hours. We either talk now or never.”

“Why did you agree to our visit if you planned on leaving anyway?” Jaxon joined the conversation, at last tearing his eyes away from Miruna’s breasts.

Sienna groaned inwardly at his rude tone, struggling to come up with a way to keep him out of the discussion. His mind wasn’t at the matter at hand, his thoughts coming from the wrong head.

“As I said,” Tyson started, talking slowly as he emphasized every word in a rather threatening manner as a direct warning to Jaxon not to question his integrity. “Something urgent came up that requires our immediate attention.”

Jaxon opened his mouth to speak, but Sienna acted faster and spilled her tea over him into not-so-subtle gesture.

“What the fuck?” Jaxon snapped, jumping to his feet and rubbing the hot wet stain at an unfortunate place on his pants.

He shot Sienna an angry look, silently letting her know she’d pay for this later. She shuddered at the thought of it, then took a deep and steadying breath. Now wasn’t the time for it. She had to be strong to get the Vangs on board.

“I think you should go change yourself and join us later,” Sienna said, sounding braver than she felt.

Jaxon let out a low growl, the guttural sound sent shivers down Sienna’s spine and not the good kind. He left the room without another word, closing the door behind him with more force than necessary.

Sienna forced her eyes away from the last spot she saw him and looked at Tyson and Lara instead.

“Smart girl,” Lara said with a tone of approval in her voice.

“Please forgive my companion. His head was somewhere else,” Sienna bowed her head in a sign of respect while at the same time insinuating that Miruna was at fault just as much as Jaxon.

“No need. We’ve certainly been through worse, haven’t we, Miruna?” Tyson said with a lighter tone, throwing a pointed look at Miruna’s direction, who only shrugged, the gesture dangerously moving the small cloths set over her nipples.

“Thank you for telling us about your change of plans and giving us the opportunity to talk to you before you leave,” Sienna said, trying to smooth the last of Jaxon’s words. “If you don’t mind me asking, what have you heard?”

Tyson and Lara exchanged quick glances before looking back at Sienna. Tyson was the one to speak up. “We saw your livestream and know about your true bloodline as well as your intentions with the city. We’re also aware you’ve been going around gathering support. What exactly do you want from us and what would we get in return?”

“I’m glad to see you well informed. It’ll save us some precious time that’s the only commodity money can’t buy,” Sienna said, allowing herself to turn up her lips into a small smile, making her face look more open and trustworthy. Or so she’d hoped. “I’m going to go straight to the point and if you have any questions, feel free to be direct with me.”

Tyson nodded, his eyes locked on her with an eerie level of alertness. Lara was a picture of casualness, but the way she had her lips pursed into a thin line let Sienna know she was just as attentive as her husband. Miruna was the only one who looked bored and gave the impression that she wanted to be anywhere else except there. Maybe with Jaxon… Sienna pushed the thought away and focused on the task at hand. She had the Vangs where she wanted them and all she needed to do was convince them to see her side.

“You’re the owners of the most notorious night clubs this country has ever seen. You cater to the elite’s every need while at the same time hold the reputation of top-notch discretion. It’s rare and it’s admirable,” Sienna said, not bothering to hide the awe in her tone. “We know that many secrets are shared in your clubs and that deals get struck every night.”

Tyson lifted his head ever so slightly and narrowed her eyes suspiciously. “Speak clearly, what is it that you want?”

“I want you to help us use your clubs to gather more support and find out information that will help us bring down the Remingtons without hurting too many people in the process,” Sienna said coldly, as if she wasn’t talking about something that could help them tilt the scale of power in their direction.

“What’s in it for us?” Lara asked before Tyson could reply.
