“Eww, he’s my brother,” Sienna said, disgusted.

“Don’t get all high and mighty on me now,” Adrianna said with a smile.

Sienna stopped in the middle of the hallway and her friend almost crashed into her.

“What is it? Are you okay?” Adrianna asked, looking her up and down.

Sienna gave her a distracted nod and looked her in the eyes.

“What if they hate me?” she asked, her voice vulnerable.

“Oh, sweetie,” Adrianna breathed and pulled her into a hug.

Sienna closed her eyes and allowed her friend’s strengthtoseep into her. Adrianna stroked her hairincomforting motions.

“They’d be stupid not to love you. You’re a strong and incredible person. The truth is that you don’t need any of us, but you’re kind enough to let usrevolvearound you. You’ll achieve more than all of us put together,” Adrianna whispered into her hair, and Sienna believed every word she said.

“You’re a good friend, Ade. I’ll never forget what you did for me,” Sienna promised, then pulled away. “I wish I didn’t need to go. I don’t feel like dealing with people, much less have the burden of our future on my shoulders.”

“Someone has to,” Adrianna commented, then fanned her hands at her eyes. “You got me so emotional, and I don’t want to ruin my make-up.”

“You’re such a drama queen,” Sienna said lightheartedly and rolled her eyes.

Adrianna’s grin turned into a wicked smile as she leaned closer to Sienna and whispered, “Don’t turn now, but our very own Saint is waiting for you.”

Sienna turned so quickly that Adrianna had to take a step back to avoid being whipped by her hair.

“I told you not to turn,” Adrianna said, but Sienna didn’t care because her eyes were on Jensen.

He waited for her at the end of the hallway, looking at her with a mixture of interest and what she could only decipher as worry. Her heart sped up in a joyful rhythm upon seeing him and her lips turned up into a smile.

“I’ll wait for you outside,” Adrianna told her, and left without waiting for an answer.

Sienna’s eyes were locked on Jensen as she took the smallest of steps toward him. His figure was a strong and towering presence inthenow empty hallway, and Sienna had an urge to run into his arms where she knew she’d be safe and protected. His dark suitfittedhim to perfection and his black hair was as dark as the darkest night itself. He looked dashing and dangerous.

“Hi,” she breathed when she reached him, a small part of her hoping that he came to tell her that she wouldn’t need to leave but could stay here with him.

“I came to wish you good luck,” he said, destroying all her fantasies.

“Oh… Thank you.”

Jensen nodded to himself as if now that he had told herthat, the job was done and he could move on. Sienna made a move to pass him when he grabbed her arm and turned her toward him. She gasped at the sudden contact and made the mistake of looking into his eyes. The dark swirl of emotion there left her breathless, and she was reminded of how affected he was when she got hurt and how vulnerable he appeared during her recovery. She wished he’d open again, but ever since she got a clean bill of health, he withdrew into himself and disappeared on her as if everything they shared never even happened.

“I also want to tell you to be careful,” he said, and grimaced as if the words caused him physical pain.

Sienna’s eyes softened and she reached up to caress his cheek, but he grabbed her wrist before she could touch him.

“Jensen?” she asked, her brows furrowing in confusion.

“Safe travels,” he mumbled, then dropped her hand and walked away too fast for her to follow.

Sienna was left standing open-mouthed in the hallway, unsure of what had just happened. She shook her head to banish the sadness from her heart. If Jensen wanted to gobackto the way they were when they first met, then she would treat him withdisdainas well. She would waste no more precious time on him and as far as she was concerned, he could go jump out of the window and break his neck. She sighed at the stupid direction her mind took her, but she couldn’t deny the hurt she felt when Jensen acted as if shewereworse thantrash.

The car honked, breaking her out of her reverie and she hurried toward the garage, whereBrianand Aiden waited for her.

“I’m sorry if I kept you waiting,” she apologized and gave Aiden a quick hug.

“No problem at all,” Aiden told her, then gestured toward the car where Jaxon was sitting inthedriver’s seat. “He’s worse than a kid when he’s bored.”
