Jaxon noticed their looks and wiggled his fingers at them. Sienna smiled at his silliness, sometimes finding it hard to believe that he was one of the Carrington heirs.

“Are we ready to go?” Brian asked, looking at Aidenfor theanswer, who nodded.

Sienna climbed into the black BMW with tinted windows, taking Aiden’s hand to help herself in. He followed behind, while Brian sat in the passenger’s seat next to Jaxon.

“Please don’t tell me you’re driving,” Sienna grunted, and Jaxon turned around to give her one of his smiles.

“It’s going to be the ride of your life,” he promised with a wink.

“Let’s go, brother,” Aiden said with a stern voice.

The Carrington heirs weren’t close, but they still shared a family bond. They wouldn’t be found telling each other their deepest secrets or bragging about the numerous women theyslept with, but they would bleed and die for one another. They might not have shared the same blood, but they all shared the same Carrington nameand, in the end, that meant more than anything else ever could.

Aiden leaned back in the seat and looked out the window with unfocused eyes. Sienna suspected he was thinking about their mission and, knowing him, he was coming up with plan after plan to make sure it would go well.

Jaxon and Brian kept up a meaningless chatter in the front, but Sienna didn’tlistenwell over the radio, and she was too tired to strain her ears. She wasn’t in the mood to participate anyway because her mind was still on Jensen and his appalling behavior.

Her phone chimed with a notification, startling her into almost letting it fall from her hands. Xavier’s name appeared on the screen, and she opened the message.

Hey, S. Sorry I couldn’t be there to say goodbye. I got called away on a last-minute job and didn’t have the time to see you. Just wanted to tell you that you got this and not to be afraid. Father wouldn’t send you if he didn’t think you were ready, and I would never suggest you as an option if I didn’t believe you could do this. I know this is a very important job, but at the end of the day, you’ll be in a holiday location so try to have some fun too. I know Aiden is the last person that one would want to have fun with, but I’m sure you’ll figure it out. Call me if you need anything. -X

Sienna smiled at the screen and touched her chest. Xavier was so thoughtful, and she was lucky to have him in her life. She saved his message, promising herself to read it whenever she lacked strength and courage. She sent back a quick reply.

Don’t worry about not seeing me off because I’d rather prefer youtobe there when I come back. We all have our jobs to do, and we’ll have more time for each other when we win and put this nightmare behind us. I trust in your research, and I promise to make you proud. I’ll have Aiden take a picture of me sunbathing so I can send it to you. Feel free to use it for whatever you need… xoxo -S

A quiet giggle escaped her when she sent the message and envisioned Xavier’s cheeks turning red. When it came to certain things, he was innocent like a little kid, but when it came to adventure, he wasn’t the one to shy away from it.

“Everything okay?” Aiden asked, giving her a side look with a raised brow.

Sienna nodded and put away her phone. “All good.”

Aiden reached over and gave her hand a squeeze. She closed her eyes for a moment and allowed his calloused fingers to caress her soft skin as the warmth from him seeped into her.

“We’re here,” Aiden commented as Jaxon came to a stop in front of a private jet that wasn’t too different from the one the Lockwoods took. Sienna didn’t think she’d be at the same airport twice in one day.

Aiden climbed out of the car and held the door open for her, then helped her out. Brian took their bags and carried them on the plane. Aiden followed him, not waiting for her when he noticed Jaxon standing aside to talk to her.

Sienna approached Jaxon and gave him a teasing smile. “I have to say that I was expectingthedrive to be more painful than it was. You’re not too bad.”

Jaxon gave her a lopsided smile and leaned forward to whisper in her ear, “That wasn’t the ride I had in mind, but we’ve run out of time. I’ll make sure to have the vehicle fueled up for when you return.”

“You’re such a pig,” Sienna cried and smacked his shoulder.

Jaxon laughed and pulled her into a hug. His strong arms enveloped her, and she leaned into the embrace, inhaling his fresh mint-like scent.

“I’ll miss you, princess,” he whispered into her hair, and she squeezed him tighter in reply.

After a moment, she pulled back and looked up at him. “I’m glad your father has you wearing those suits. Your ass looks fantastic in it,” she told him with a serious voice.

Jaxon rolled his eyes and shook his head, but she could see a smile on his face. After Jensen, he was the second most enigmatic Carrington heir. She loved to hate him, but, in the end, her love and care for him always prevailed.

“I’ll see you soon,” she told him, then added, “We’ll return with good news.”

He nodded. “I know you will. I’m not doubting that one bit. You’re the most resourceful person I’ve ever met.”

“Bye, Jaxon.”

Sienna walked away and went up the stairs to the plane. Before entering, she turned around once again to look at Jaxon and he gave her a sad smile accompanied by a little wave. She hated being separated from the Carrington heirs, and her heart was breaking leaving them, but she had no choice.
