“Then answer the question, Jaasiel!” I say, getting irritated.

“We don’t know each other outside of being explosive together, and we have a lot to learn about each other.”

“Can we do that while being monogamous?” No matter how I acted with him last night and this morning, I don’t do casual sex.

His face softens as he moves the pan off the heat. He takes a fork, stabs a piece of meat, dips it in a soft-cooked egg, and walks around the island to me. “Open,” he demands, and I almost open my legs instead of my mouth. The flavors erupt in my mouth when he feeds and watches me eat. Leaning down, he kisses me before saying, “Of course we can, Princess.” And that is how I finally got my dinner and a whole man to go with it.

Today should be interesting. Not only does my third favorite doctor graduate from medical school today, but Parker gets to meet the rest of the family. We have seen each other every day since we decided to be exclusive, and I should just buy a condom company at this point. We have an appointment to see a doctor and get tested, but we also need to have a conversation about pregnancy. Every time I bring up certain topics, she gets very vague and dances around the question; the top of that list is her career and family. I am very close to having Jabarri run a background check on her. All I know is that she is in talent acquisition and her parents are still happily married after forty-six years, and she has one older sister, but outside of that, she has refused to share. As a matter of fact, if I want to change the mood altogether, all I have to do is bring up either topic, and she shuts down.

“Baby, how does this look?” I look up as she walks out of her closet wearing her customary white with gold boat neck blouse, matching wide-leg pants with gold high-heeled sandals, gold accessories, and a white and gold purse. She’s put curls in her waist-length hair, and her makeup is flawless.

Walking over to her, I grab her bountiful ass in my hand as I tell her the truth, “You looked good in all the outfits you have put on, Princess. Which one makes you feel your best?”

“This one.”

“Well, then this is the one, obviously,” I tell her, grabbing my jacket.

“You always have something orange on. Is that your favorite color?”

I stop and look at her because she is the reason for my new obsession with the color orange, but I am not ready to have that conversation with her. When she begins to share, so will I. Then again, maybe I need to be the one to show her that trust so she will know she can trust me with anything. “It has become my favorite color since I met you. Are you ready?” I can see that look bloom in her eyes as she takes in my all-black outfit with orange accessories. “Get that look out of your eyes. We do not have time.”

“A quickie?”

“You know our quickies last an hour.”

“Fine, but I expect extra later.”

“You’re going to be the death of me,” I tell her as I offer her my elbow and head to Brooklyn’s graduation.

I hope this venue and the attendees are prepared for the full Gideon crew to show up and act a fool. And I am also ready to be bombarded with questions, looks, and perhaps a few hits when I show up with Parker on my arm. I did not give anyone any warning outside of Brooklyn that I would bring a guest with me.

“Are you sure this is a good idea just to drop me in their laps without any warning?”

“I guess we’ll find out, but whether we pop up on them or give them fair warning, the reaction is going to be the same. Just be you, taku manawa, and you will be fine,” I tell her.

“Ughh, men!” she half screams out. “All I know about your sisters is who is married to which brother, which is basically nothing. Which sister do I need to get in good with?”

“What makes you think there is a top sister?”

She looks at me rolling her eyes, “Of course, there is a leader to the sisters, and I know you know which one it is, but you’d rather let me struggle than give me a heads up.”

“If I told you who the top sister is, as you put it, and you tried to get on her good side, she would immediately see that and feel you were fake. She’s very good at reading people. So, me telling you just to be you and talk to all my sisters is me helping you, trust me. If you get on her bad side, you are going to have a long uphill battle fitting in. How they feel about you will not matter to me, we are going to be whatever you and I decide, but we will be a long-term thing, and I would really like for you to get along with all of my sisters and family.”

I drop Parker off at the front while I search for a parking spot since her heels are not conducive to walking across this big ass parking lot.

“Aww, there you are!” Aryan says, and I have to do a double take; my brother pulled out all the stops in his outfit. The navy blue and peach outfit looks like it was made especially for him. I can’t help but notice that the peach is the exact same shade of peach of Brooklyn’s hair.

“Here I am. You look like you’re trying to get some attention today.”

“I just wanted to make sure I was on the same level as my brothers,” he says, patting his jacket pocket, and I want to call bullshit, but once again, my attention is drawn to his hand movements as he pats his pocket again.

“Are you getting ready to propose?” I ask as I notice how nervous he is. The question causes him to stumble and almost fall on his face literally. If I hadn’t grabbed his arm, he would have. “Damn, are you going to propose to Brooklyn?” I ask again, now serious when I had only been playing before.

He sputters a few times before he finally pulls himself together enough to respond, “Hell no! Why would I do that? Brooklyn and I are friends. I do not know why I have to keep telling y’all that!”

I look at him like he’s lost his damn mind, not only because he’s talking to me like he’s lost his damn mind, but even more for the bullshit he just let spew out of his mouth.
