Murphy, who’d come up behind Trip, snorted loudly. “That was just the icing on the fucking cake,” he growled.

“You got your guns back. What’s the problem then?” LD questioned.

“The girls.”

“The fuck?” came Demon’s response.

Trip nodded. “Yup. Ten to be exact. They were in the back with the guns. And, Brother—” he leaned in and snarled, “—they weren’t all working girls off the strip.”

Shit!

He continued with disgust, “They nabbed a little virgin.”

“A fucking kid?” I hissed through my teeth.Fuck! My thoughts turned immediately to Bronx. He had a reputation for liking young girls.

Sax stepped forward. “So what’d you do with them?”

“One of my brothers just happens to know how to drive a rig, so they’re on their way back to Vegas. Had to spare a few brothers to ride along as protection detail.” He laughed, but it held little humor. “Still have enough manpower for war.”

LD grunted. “Then what the fuck we waiting for?”

More than one brother laughed, because we were all eager to give Wild Bandits their comeuppance.

“Nothing, now that you finally got here,” BF snorted, his grin wide enough to reveal a row of teeth through his full beard.

“Already got the perimeter covered, so there ain’t anyone getting out of there. Bomber and Tank are setting up the explosives now. Once we’re in place and they’re detonated, be ready for anything. I want their clubhouse and the surrounding buildings obliterated like the fucking club never existed.”

“What about the women?” someone asked.

Trip’s head swung toward the brother doing the asking. “We don’t kill women or children on purpose, but there will be casualties of war. Wild Bandits brought this shit on themselves. Any of you can’t handle what’s got to be done, now’s the time to get gone.”

Most of us felt the same way about the thought of hurting women and children. They didn’t belong in this mess, but things happened when you went to war with another MC. We’d been to war before, we’d had war declared on us, and it was a sad fact that innocents would lose their lives. I thought about Harlow and how she would feel about this, knowing that I killed so that our club and families could live in peace.

“Okay. Time to head out!” Trip shouted so that everyone could hear him. “Mount up!”

Within seconds the area was vibrating with the rumble of bikes and filled with exhaust fumes as some of us revved up in a show of strength and eagerness for what was to come. I could almost smell the adrenalin pumping through my brothers, and before long we were tearing out of the parking lot and riding down the road in trains of two behind our leaders.

We were closer to Wild Bandits’ clubhouse than I’d thought, but we didn’t ride all the way there because we didn’t want them to hear our approach. When we stopped it was easy to hide our rides in the trees lining the road so that the lights of anyone else who was traveling on the road would not reflect off our bikes. We had to assume that Wild Bandits had allies in the area, as well as the cops in their pockets.

“Make sure you brothers are packed for war,” Trip ordered once the noise quieted down. We made a circle around him and Demon. “Won’t be back until it’s over.”

“How far?”

I could barely see my hand in front of my face, but I could distinguish Bull’s voice next to me.

“’Bout half a mile.”

Through the woods. It was going to be a tough trek in the dark. “I hope the brothers you have guarding the perimeter don’t mistake us for the enemy.”

Someone snickered, but Demon was the one who said, “That’s why we have you along, Brother.”

“Being shot by friendly fire is also a possibility in war,” Murphy grumbled.

I didn’t like the sound of that. Jesus, I wished the whole fucking thing were over. I wanted to get back to Harlow. I wanted to make sure she was safe, because we still didn’t know where the fuck Bronx was. Thank fuck she was off from work for the next two days and wouldn’t have a reason to leave the clubhouse. It had killed me not to sleep with her while she was in my bed the last few nights, but I couldn’t trust myself not to let things get out of hand. If her divorce wasn’t final soon, I was going to end up in a mental hospital with a case of the biggest blue balls on record.

Demon pivoted to follow behind Trip. “Stay close.”

That was the last anyone said as we stepped in behind Demon and Trip single-file. At least their big asses, along with LD and Murphy, were making a decent path for us. The area was dense with undergrowth of mountain muhly, ponderosa, and piñon pine. Occasionally the sounds of an animal moving nearby indicated that we weren’t completely alone. It was a moonless night, and I could have done without the sudden screech of an owl taking flight from an overhead branch.
