“The girl we saw running away from here?”

Harlow nodded.

“We’ll find her, babe, I promise.”

Laughter, low and gritty, caused me to look to where my brothers were handling Bronx. There was a look on his face that I didn’t like.

“What’s so fucking funny, asshole?” Cole bound his arms roughly behind his back.

“The girl.” He stared directly at Harlow. “Kelly. Took her virginity. Ruined her good.”

“She’s strong. With help, she’ll be okay.” Harlow’s tone held conviction, but it was the depth of her hate towards Bronx that caught me by surprise. My sweet, loving woman had more backbone than I’d known.

Bronx laughed again. “Not when she finds out who I am.”

“And who are you?” I asked.

He took his time answering. “Her father.”

Harlow sucked in her breath, and I knew that she was feeling the pain of his words. Tears brightened in her eyes, and before anyone could guess what she was about to do, she rushed to Bronx and kneed him in the balls. He groaned and doubled over in pain.

Cole and Savage both grinned at her action. I was proud as fuck.

“She’ll never find out,” Harlow said when she was able to speak.

Bronx glared up at her from his position on the floor. “Wanna bet, bitch?”

“Well, it fucking won’t be from you.” Savage pulled his own knife and leaned over Bronx.

I instinctively knew what he was about to do, and I grabbed Harlow to me, burying her face in my chest. “Don’t look.” She didn’t try to break away and I had a feeling that she knew, too, what Savage had just done.

Bronx withered on the floor in pain, blood pouring from his mouth. Savage held up his severed tongue and tossed it against the wall.

I ran my hand up and down Harlow’s back until she stopped trembling. I never wanted to let her go.
