“Caine.” Theo slams his drink on the table. “We’re voting, lad.”

I look around the table. Killian, Theo, and Tawny are staring at me. I wink at her and she returns the look with an impish smile.

“Now that the Russians have been run out of Boston,” Killian begins looking as smug and as proud as our new leader should.

“For now!” Theo cheers.

“Guys,” Tawny complains. She hits Killian with her pouty face. It’s her secret weapon. Since Killian is a sucker of an older brother, he falls for it.

“Alright, jokes aside,” Killian says, patting her back. “Do we let Tawny in on the family business?”

We all raise our hands. Tawny squeals and hugs each of us.

“To peace with the bikers, and to Tawny.”

I raise my glass, and we bring them together.

“I can’t believe you’re finally letting me in on the business. With Da gone, I’m finally going to prove myself.” Tawny flings herself back into the booth.

Theo pats her knee. “Let’s not speak ill of the dead, Tawn.”

I remain silent. They don’t know the half of it. As Jacob’s sons, Killian and I bore the brunt of his wrath.

I raise my glass. “To Killian. Our new leader.”

“To Killian!”

Chapter 30

Aurora

One month later

I step onto the dancefloor, my hand in Liam’s. I have already danced with Caine and for a second there, I thought he wasn’t going to let go of me, but he did.

Liam spins me around. I glimpse my reflection in the window. The dress is stunning. It’s a white floor-length gown that hugs my figure and flares out at the ankles. The entire dress is covered in pearls that form an intricate pattern. One that sparkles in the light.

“You look beautiful,” Liam says. “Even if your husband is a pendejo.”

I roll my eyes. “He grows on you.”

“Sounds like true love.”

“Am I in love with him? No. Is he the worst guy ever? Also, no.” The lie doesn’t fall as easily as I would like. But what am I supposed to tell Liam? I’m in love with my new husband, but don’t worry, he doesn’t return my feelings?

“Oh god, you really are sleeping with him.”

I laugh. “No, duh. Have you seen him? He has an eight pack, Liam. Aneightpack! Do you know how rare that is? It’s like finding a unicorn.”

“Oh god.” He groans and shudders. “Stop saying stuff like that to me. I’m your brother.”

That only makes me laugh harder.

Liam leads me around the dancefloor and twirls me around.

“Why didn’t you get one of those big dresses?”

“Not my speed, dumb-dumb,” I say.
