I giggle at the petulant expression that crosses his face.

“Are you sure you don’t mind that I won’t step down?” I don’t know why I’m asking. There isn’t anything Liam can say that will change my mind. I’m going to turn the Dullahans into a legitimate business if it kills me. And it might.

“Nah. You’re the smartest. The Dullahans should be yours.”

I grin. “It means a lot that you support me.”

“VP was always a better fit for me, anyway. I’m a fighter, not a thinker. I swear the old man used to tell me all the time if you were a man, he’d be training you, not me.”

A hand clamps down on Liam’s shoulder. It’s Caine, but he doesn’t look like his usual surly self around the bikers. Since the Dullahans and the O’Connors took on the Bratva together, a lot of the tension between our gangs has eased.

“May I cut in?” Caine asks. He may have posed it as a question, but I know it isn’t. A lot of the strain is gone, but he’s still Caine.

“I guess.” Liam shoulders past him. “Pendejo.”

Caine sighs and gives me a look that resembles a puppy dog. “Tell your brother I know what ‘pendejo’ means.”

I smile, allowing him to pull me into his arms. I press closer, inhaling his familiar masculine scent and loving the feel of his muscles against my body.

“I could, but then he’ll just find an insult you don’t understand.”

“Maybe I should just shoot him?”

I gasp. “You wouldn’t dare!”

That easy smile returns, and he winks at me. “Not on our wedding day. I’ll wait until after the honeymoon.”

The crinkling of his eyes and the teasing smile that curves his lips tell me he isn’t serious. I laugh.

“You’re a complete psycho.”

“A psycho who will protect you for the rest of our lives,” he leans in to whisper in my ear. His warm breath causes goosebumps to break out on my arms.

“If the two of you spent any time together at all, you might actually like each other.”

Now Caine is the one who laughs. “That’s not going to happen.”

“A girl can dream.”

He clears his throat and looks away. If I didn’t know better, I would say he’s nervous. That’s new.

“There’s something I’ve been wanting to say to you for a while now. It’s just not easy because you’re damn near perfect. My very own biker goddess,” he says, flashing a wicked smile. “You call me on my shit and you’re not half as innocent as you pretend, which only makes you sexier.”

I hold my breath. “Caine -”

“I love you, Aurora. I don’t expect you to say it back and that’s alright. I’m a bad guy. A monster.”

I grin and raise onto my toes to kiss him. I pull away to see Caine looking dazed.

“I love you too. I love youbecauseyou are a bad guy. Have you met me? I’m no saint.”

Caine takes my hand and leads me off the dancefloor. As the guests of honor, it’s difficult, but not impossible, to slip away.

We end up in an empty hallway at the far end of the hotel.

“Where are we going?” I giggle and tug on his hand.

Caine turns around and spins me into his arms. “We’re here.”
