I snorted, rolling my eyes. “She’s the only one.”

He nodded politely, but his expression said it all.

Chance appeared in the doorway. “The only one, what?” He limped to my side, placing his arm around me.

“Jenna’s the only one who likes my oatmeal raisin cookies.”

“She’s the only person who likes oatmeal raisin cookies, period.” He smirked, placing a small kiss on top of my head. “It isn’t your fault. You didn’t invent them.”

“Something we agree on.” Ian chuckled. “Anyway, I have to get back home, but know I have your back if any questions come up, cool?”

Chance bobbed his head. “Before you go, is there any news on Alejandro’s whereabouts?”

“Still working on that.” He headed toward the kitchen. “Some of my guys have a few leads.”

“I’m so ready for this to be done.” I cleaned up the plates from breakfast, carrying them to the sink. Turning to Ian, I sighed. “Can I please go back to work this weekend?”

He opened his mouth to speak, but Chance sighed audibly. We both turned our attention to him.

“That call was about Late Night with Cameron Wolfe.” He leaned his cane on the kitchen island, crossing his arms. “He wants me on again, Monday and apologized to my agent for provoking me.”

Ian gnawed the inside of his cheek for a moment. “That seems pretty soon for a booking.”

Chance shook his head. “When he heard what happened to me, he bumped another guest to have me on.”

“Before he got a yes from you?” I gasped.

Nodding, he rolled his eyes. “Yep, because myactualassistant said I would do it before asking me.”

“Well, I’ll leave you two to discuss that. Keep me posted.” Ian exited through the back door.

Pivoting to Chance, I folded my arms over my stomach. “You are going to do it, right?”

“Do I have a fucking choice?” He reached his arm out to me. “I feel like it would give me the opportunity to show I’m not the train wreck I was before.”

Slipping my arms around his neck, I carefully stood on my toes, pressing my lips to his. “I’m so happy, actually. It will be amazing to see you on TV beingyouagain.”

“What are you talking about?” His expression changed to disbelief.

I tugged the back of his platinum locks gently. “I just mean that you’re a diff—”

Chuckling, he shook his head. “No-no, I meant to say, you’re coming with me this time.”

“Me?!”

“I mean, I could ask my other girlfriend, but she might not like me anymore now that I’m injured.”

“I would jab my finger into your stomach right now if you were better.” I giggled.

“Why don’t we leave on Saturday morning so we can have a weekend to relax before filming.” He smiled. “I’ll take you out. I might even fuck you afterwards.” He winked.

“Does that mean I have to do all the work?” I squinted, pursing my lips.

“Why don’t we find out right now?” Wrapping his arms around my waist, he yanked me close to his body.

“You’re still in pain. Can you even have sex right now?”

“Of course, I can!” He huffed, shaking his head in disappointment.
