Wearing a baseball cap pulled down low to cover my hair, I observed as she scurried around the room, delivering drinks to horny men. They were making no effort to hide their intentions. Clenching my fists, I took a deep breath, slouching on the wall near the entrance, my bodyguard, Dragon, at my side.

I can do this. I watched for the perfect moment to sneak through the crowd. While her back was turned, I nodded once to Dragon, then lurched to the main stage. I couldn’t help but watch her as we made our way to the front.

Someone reached out, grasping her wrist. I took a step toward her, but Dragon seized my arm, giving it a tight squeeze. Averting my gaze to his, I narrowed my eyes.

“Don’t, please.” He gritted his teeth. “I don’t want to fight Ian on your behalf, and her job never bothered you before tonight.”

Tilting my head, I leaned over to see if she was still struggling, but she had disappeared. Nodding, I lowered my eyes, hiding my face as we took a seat. When the waitress approached, I wiggled my finger at her.

Bending closer, she smiled when we made eye contact. “Oh, shit!” She recognized me instantly. “Does Amber know you’re here?”

“No.” I dug into my pocket, pulling out my wallet. Counting out five twenty-dollar bills, I handed her one. “Number one, make me a triple vodka and wait for me next to the bar.”

“Grey Goose, yeah?”

I nodded once.

She stood up straight. I placed a finger on her arm. She stopped, leaning back over.

My bodyguard reached over, snapping his fingers at me twice. “Not a good idea.”

Glaring in his direction, I tightened my gaze before bringing it back to her.

“Number two,” I held out another twenty-dollar bill toward the waitress, “keep your mouth closed about me being here.”

Giggling, she nodded once again. “Of course. Anything else?”

“Get my drink ready first.” The moment she left, I turned to Dragon, pointing. “Don’t say a fucking word about this.”

“What are you going to do?”

Standing, I slid a hand into my pocket. “Don’t follow me.”

“Chan… fucking hell.”

I didn’t bother to see if he watched me. One thing was on my mind, and it was getting across the room before I was caught. Focusing on the floor, I snuck to the bar as swiftly as I could. The waitress was holding my drink out. Closing my eyes, I threw back the liquid in one gulp, then handed her the empty glass.

“Okay,” she rested her fists on her hips, “what’s next?”

“Tell Amber a customer wants a private dance in Room Two.” I handed her all but one twenty. “Keep Kirsten out of the room. She’s a fucking blabbermouth when it comes to me.”

She giggled.

I dangled the final note in her face. “Handle Dragon for me while I’m with her.”

Snatching the money from my grip, she snickered again. “Deal. I’ll send her right in.”

“Wait.”

“What?” She froze.

“Three more.” I held up three fingers.

Nodding, she turned away, sneaking another triple vodka before Aurora could catch her. Immediately I drank it, smiling as I handed the glass back to her.

“Go.” She lifted her chin toward the side door. “I’ll send her right in.”

Keeping my head low, I made my way to the side of the room. The sentry at the pink velvet rope took a step in front of it. I lifted my gaze and his eyes widened. He pulled it back, letting me through with a nod.
