“I was, um—”

“I found her in the dressing room, getting ready,” Luke interjected, laying a hand on my shoulder.

Ian wasn’t stupid, but he never questioned Luke. They were like brothers. I was a bit shocked he came to my rescue, lying to Ian for me. It made me wonder if Ian had wanted to keep Chance and me apart during work hours.Does he even want us to see one another at all?I wouldn’t blame him after all we’d put him and his family through.

He looked back and forth between us, tightening his gaze briefly before changing the topic. “I’ve had tons of meetings in here, but the last time a dancer was in this room was when Jenna danced for Bernardo Mussolini.”

“I’m sorry, I know—”

“It’s okay. These guys are much nicer, don’t worry.”

“Who are they?”

“Alejandro had some associates come in from New York for the weekend.” Sliding his hands in his pockets, he shot Luke a quick glance. “Luke and Jade will be in there with you.”

As if on cue, Jade opened the door, poking her head out. Ian exchanged a stoic glance with both Luke and her before he swiveled to me. Trailing his eyes up and down my body, he cocked his head.

“You’re wearing the same thing you were earlier.” He wrinkled his brow at Luke. “You said you found her getting ready.”

Pursing his lips, Luke glimpsed at me from the corner of his eye. “She was touching up her—”

Ian lifted his hand, silencing him. “We’ll discuss this after work. Right now, I don’t give a shit.”

Luke rolled his eyes.

“Come on.” Jade reached her hand out, wiggling her fingers.

Ian offered a curt nod. “Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to go find Chance.”

“Ia… Mr. Knight!”I called after him, but he didn’t turn around as he marched down the long hallway.

Jade curled her dainty fingers around my wrist, tugging me through the threshold.Standing next to her, I posed in front of a group of businessmen, scattered throughout on the black leather couches and chairs. My eyes scanned the lounge for Alejandro. Luke made his way to the back of the room, perching on the edge of the blue felt billiard table. He unbuttoned his cuffs one at a time, rolling his sleeves to his elbows to reveal his intricate sleeve tattoos; he’d always been so secretive about their meaning as long as I’d known him. Arms crossed, his biceps bulging from his shirt, his eyes darted to the right.

My gaze followed his to Alejandro. He rose from a chair, a wicked grin on his face, a full drink in his hand, and a short cigar pinned between his teeth. As he approached the front of the room, he examined the other men before coming to a stop in front of me. Removing the cigar from his mouth, he took a step closer, providing only a few inches between us.

“You don’t have to get naked forthem,” he muttered. “Just tease them a bit.”

I peered around him at Luke, whose fist was over his mouth, his eyes trained on us. I couldn’t help but wonder why Alejandro seemed to be rigid in front of the other men. However, with his back to them, his expression softened again.

It was a security protocol for Ian or Luke to be present in the Lounge when dancers were present, even with numerous guards throughout the room and at the door. Even before Bernardo had upset the balance of the club, they were cautious about the wellbeing of the women. Since the incident, security had increased, and Luke was around more, assisting with club operations.

Jade took her place next to him, a tablet in her hand with the stylus pen fidgeting between her fingers. I half expected him to put his arm around her, but he didn’t. I’d known him and Ian long enough to know what that meant. He was tense, which made me feel the same way.

The music began. I danced, twirled, and glided around the large room, focusing a couple minutes on each of the men. They took turns slipping money into my top, garter, or the straps of my outfit. Four waitresses entered, delivering another round of drinks as the first song faded into the second. We always saved the finale of the dance for the guest of honor. Tonight, it was Alejandro.

Grabbing his head, I ran my fingers through his hair, pulling him close as I straddled his lap. He reached to the side, propping his cigar in the ashtray on the table next to him. Wrapping his arms around my waist, he pressed me down on his lap, moving to the song with me. He was watchful not to alert anyone of the hold he had on me. Even Luke, who was exceptionally observant, didn’t notice. But I had a signal I could give him if I was uncomfortable.

Just as I felt his erection digging into my panties, the song ended and I gracefully stood, backing away with an internal sigh of relief. The men applauded and whistled. Alejandro picked up his cigar, tightening his gaze on me, nodding. Jade sped to my side, leading me out of the room, leaving Luke behind.

“Jade,” I exhaled, jerking my wrist from her grip.

She froze, spinning to face me.

“I need to find Ian.”

Her proud expression was replaced with concern.

“He went to find Chance and—”
