“She is, isn’t she?”

“Looks like it.” I snorted. “You ever going to let her dance for the crowd again?”

Turning to me with his brow arched, he shrugged a shoulder. “At first I didn’t want her to, but if it’s something she absolutely loves, I’m willing to discuss it with her.”

The music faded and Jade applauded with a bright grin stretched across her face. “Great job, girl! Still got it!”

Jenna twisted to me, hands on her hips. “And what did you think, best friend?”

“You looked like a rotisserie chicken on that pole.”

Ian elbowed me in the side.

I grabbed my hip. “Oof, I mean you look hot as fuck.”

Jenna giggled, shaking her head. “It’s okay. I was waiting for the smart ass to come out of you.”

“It never disappoints, does it?” I winked.

“Nope.”

Ian helped her off the stage and handed her a towel. “Baby, Chance and I are going to go talk, okay?”

Nodding, she stood on her toes, leaving a peck on his lips. “Okay.”

She and Jade left the room, security following. Ian and I strode to the side door into the hallway. He lifted his chin to the left.

“Go to my room.”

I ambled down the corridor into his private space at the end of the hall. He closed the door, locking it. The moment I heard the lock click, I whirled around.

“If you think I’m getting naked for you—”

“Cut the shit. I don’t want to see your dick, Chance.”

“Is this about Amber and tonight?” I sighed, throwing myself back on the couch lazily draping my leg over the side arm.

Nodding, he took a step forward, perching on the edge of the platform in the center of the room. “About her and Alejandro, actually.” He slid a pack of cigarettes from his pocket, tossing me one with a lighter. “You’re going to wish you had that in a second.”

Glaring, I lit it, inhaling a deep drag as I stared at the mirrored ceiling. “What?”

“He’s coming here tonight to meet with me, and she will have to dance for him.”

He was used to getting his way and doing whatever it took to protect people. I promised Amber that I would trust him with her safety. Trusting her in this was crucial for me as well. As much as I didn’t like it, I had to be agreeable or I would make matters worse, losing her forever.

“Fine.” It was all I could say at the moment.

“You know what I’m saying, right?” He crossed his arms over his chest.

Nodding, I inhaled a drag. “I want her safe. I want this to be over. Whatever it takes.”

“Do you trust me?”

“Do you give a shit if I do or not?” I twisted my head toward him. “I’ll stay out of the way tonight.” Standing, I headed for the door, inhaling a drag of my smoke. Ian grabbed my elbow, holding me back. My gaze slowly met his. “I trust you.”

“I promise this is necessary for my plan.”

Jerking my arm from his grasp, I marched toward the exit, turning around as I reached for the doorknob. “If she gets hurt—”
