“She won’t. She’s great at what she does. She knows what’s expected of her.”

“But does he?” Without another word, I left.

DISTRACTIONS

AMBER

While in the elevator with Luke on the way down to the Blue Lounge, I glanced at his phone to see he was texting Tyler.

Chance is not to leave the showroom no matter what.

We can’t risk his safety, and I have a feeling this could get ugly.

Do you have eyes on him?

I do. He’s with me.

What the hell?I exhaled a slow, calm breath, darting my eyes back and forth, trying to ease my nerves. Though I was happy he wasn’t wanting to risk Chance getting involved, it dawned on me just how bad tonight may be.

“Are you okay?” Luke slid his phone into his pocket.

Nodding, I puckered my lips as the door parted and we stepped off the elevator. “Yeah, but this whole thing makes me nauseous.”

His phone dinged from his pocket again, causing me to jump.

“You’ll be fine, I promise,” he muttered under his breath as we trekked to the lounge. “You picked a nice one.”

“What?”

“Your outfit. He won’t be able to resist the temptation.”

The outfit I’d chosen for the night left barely anything for the imagination. The black leather triangle top with gold studs barely covered my nipples while the matching quad thong was attached to gold chains, and a studded collar. The chains weaved between loops where straps attached. I stopped at the double doors, guarded by two muscular sentries, each with their hands on the doorknobs ready for the signal.

I felt like a boxer before a fight, physically shaking away the nerves with the wave of a hand, the chains jingling. Luke rested his palm on my shoulder. I checked to make sure my black platform heels were buckled properly before glancing at Luke.

“Promise me that I’ll be okay.”

“I don’t think he would be that dumb.”

“Am I supposed to be comforted by that reply?” I snickered nervously.

“Just don’t give him a reason to try anything to piss me off,” Ian murmured.

Startled at his sudden presence, I spun around. “I can’t control him,” I hissed.

“You’re more powerful than you think,” Luke added.

Without another word, I bowed my head, and the security guards opened the doors. The moment we were through, they closed us in. They remained posted just beyond the walls, not allowing anyone to pass. My arms were shaking visibly.

Luke took my hand in his, squeezing lightly, leaning close to my ear. “We won’t let anything happen to you.”

Before he took his place at the back by the pool table, I scanned the room, gripping his hand tighter when I spotted Alejandro by the wall as waitresses entered, delivering cocktails. His eyes narrowed on mine and he handed his glass to the man at his side. Weaving through the furniture and other men, he came to a stop in front of the three of us.

Luke released my hand. He and Ian took a step forward, shielding me. I felt almost frozen as that familiar alluring grin appeared on Alejandro’s face. Why does he remind me of someone I’ve seen before?Though I couldn’t place my finger on it, I was sure he was…someone.

“Thank you for wanting to meet with me,” he spoke to Ian, but his eyes were on me before he tore them away to give the guys his attention. “I believe there has been a sort of misunderstanding.”
