“Excuse me?” Ian cocked his head. “What do you mean?”

“It’s been brought to my attention that you assume I’m responsible for one of your dancers getting hurt.”

“Hurt?” Luke crossed his arms. “Roxy almost died.”

“Who?” He stepped around Ian, running the back of his hand down my cheek, that small twitch on his lips evident he was taunting them now.

Ian and Luke spun around. “My dancer, you prick!” Ian raised his voice, pointing toward the door. “Amber, get the fuck out, now!”

“Whoa, whoa.” Alejandro murmured, grabbing my wrist when I tried to obey. “What the hell are you talking about, Knight?”

I jerked away from his grasp, massaging my arm before folding them over my midsection. Luke stepped over, putting his hand on my lower back.

“Don’t touch her!” Ian spat. “And don’t play dumb with me! You had Roxy beat to a pulp, stole the warehouse paperwork, hired a fucking photographer to distract me, bugged my house, and texted threats to us!”

“Ian, wait!” Alejandro sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose with his fingers. “I admit I stole the warehouse paperwork, but it was for a good reason. I have no fucking idea what you’re talking about regarding the other things.” He flashed his palms at Luke, dropping thetough-guyact. “I was planning to surprise you with something, but whatever the hell is going on with that other shit, I have no clue.”

“Personally, I don’t believe you!” Luke’s fingers dug into my spine before he withdrew his hand, clenching his fists at his side. “Why were you acting so shady?!”

Ian cleared his throat. “Stand down, Luke.”

“Because of my business life. Fuck!” Alejandro let out a loud laugh, twisting to the room of gawking, astonished men before bringing his gaze back to Ian. “Man, come on! What the hell?” He slid his hands in his pockets, amusement on his face. “I had planned a huge surprise for you guys and knew the only way to pull it off would be to steal that paperwork. I got some fighters for us.” Reaching over, he slapped Ian on the shoulder blade.

Ian shifted just enough for me to see pure rage in his eyes. “I don’t know what to say.” He chuckled. “I think after what the Mussolini family did to us last year, I’m paranoid.”

What’s he doing? Is he falling for that?! Surely, he’s not on his side now.

Suddenly, Alejandro became serious. “We need to find out who the fuck has been messing with you guys and end this.”

Luke took a step forward. “I have people working on it.”

“I’d like to help.” Alejandro glanced at me then darted his eyes back and forth between Ian and Luke. “Why don’t we discuss it after she dances. I’ve been looking forward to this for a while.”

Ian and Luke twisted to me. Ian still looked enraged. Luke appeared apologetic but remained tense as he pulled a prepared cigar from his lapel and lit it. I was sure my eyes were full of pure terror at that point. But I grinned… wide. Maybe too wide. I knew what the guys were asking of me.Play nice. Do your job. I got it. I knew the importance of my role at that moment. The last thing I wanted was to mess up and it all come crashing down on my friends. Or at the very least, my boss and his business. I gave Ian and Luke a single nod.

Ian turned back to Alejandro. “She’s ready.”

Alejandro fanned away Luke’s cloud of smoke he’d exhaled purposely toward him. Backing to the first available chair at the front of the room, he sat eagerly.

“Please tell me you don’t believe a word he says,” Luke whispered only loud enough for Ian and me to hear.

“Nope,” he replied as they paraded to the back of the room.

Luke perched on the edge of the pool table. Ian leaned next to him, arms crossed over his chest just as my song started.

Tonight, I somehow danced flawlessly for each of the men, even though I was terrified. I paid special attention to Alejandro as I’d always done for our guest of honor. Holding my hips, he tried his best to move himself against me several times, but each time I shimmied and twirled out of his grip, hoping he wouldn’t notice.

He seemed to like the cat-and-mouse game we played for the last half of the second song. As much as I didn’t want to get naked, I removed my clothes, leaving only my collar on. Making sure he suspected nothing more than me doing my job to the fullest, I kept my composure through the sickening feeling.

I didn’t want him giving Ian and Luke any problems. I finished my dance with my fingers running through his hair, before sitting on his lap and placing his palms on my breasts. As the song faded, I stood, picking up my skimpy clothing, waiting for Ian or Luke’s instruction.

“Thank you, Amber.” Ian offered a single nod, coming to the front of the room. “You may go.”

Wasting no time, I bowed my head, making a beeline for the exit.
