“Watch what I do first. Your sight is enhanced now. Even if you couldn’t see me, you’d spot me in infrared. Another advantage of being a Hybrid.”
I hovered in place as Antoine took off with a loud whooshing sound from his feathers. My eyes refocused, and I watched in amazement as he flew around the trees as if nothing was there. How on earth would I do that? After a few minutes, he returned to hover next to me.
“Your turn.”
My eyes went wide. “Erm, how am I supposed to do that without faceplanting into the closest tree?”
He placed his hands on my shoulders. “Trust your instincts. I know you’re new to all this, but believe me, it’ll come naturally to you. Give it a go.”
Taking a deep breath, I mumbled, “I may need plastic surgery after this.”
He chuckled. “No, you won’t, because even if you do get up close and personal with a tree, you’ll heal fast.”
I rolled my eyes. “Oh, gee, thank you so much for the pep talk.”
Narrowing my wings, I took my flight at a much slower pace. As my confidence grew, I went a little faster, marvelling at how I could move with such grace through the trees. I even went above the treeline and dived straight back down.
“Oh, Antoine. This is just so amazing.”
“Yeah, it’s great, isn’t it? But remember, this is all training for fighting demons at close quarters too.”
The reality of this hit me. We’d have to defend our territory, and I needed to be battle ready. I flew back to him. His eyes had a hard edge to them, and energy was thrumming from him.
“Antoine?”
“I want you to fly as fast as you can. I’m going to hunt you as if I were a demon. Go… now!”
His voice left no room for discussion. I took off at speed.

Antoine
Ever since Donna had let slip about me chasing her, I hadn’t been able to shake the fantasy from my mind. It made me hard each time I thought about it.
She was going to get her wish.
As soon as she took off, I chased after her. At any time, I could’ve caught up with her, but I wanted her to think she was safe. She was far from it. I allowed the wild part of me to rise, the one who wanted to hunt her down and claim her again, leaving her in no doubt that she was mine.
I was impressed at how she swerved with grace to avoid the trees. She was faster than I imagined she’d be.
“It seems like I can show you a trick or two, flyboy,”she teased me.
That was it, time to take her down. I sped up until I could see her directly ahead of me. Without warning, I pounced on her mid-air, caught her around the waist, and took her down to the ground. The shock in her eyes was tangible, and her wings retreated inside her. I did the same with mine. Then I let her go and stalked her until she was against a tree. Pulling my T-shirt from my back pocket, I ripped it almost in two.
“Hands. Up. Now,” I growled.
“W… what?” She was panting from her flight and her pupils were dilated.
“You heard me.”
She held her shaking arms above her head. There was a branch protruding from the tree close to her arms, so I secured her there. I allowed my eyes to trail up and down her body, a rumbling growl rolling continually from me. Her tits were moving up and down inside her shirt; the motion had me hypnotised.
“If I do anything you don’t like, or you’re scared, tell me.”
“No. I want it all. You know I’ve fantasised about this.”
I lengthened my fangs and claws. The action had her squirming and whimpering. Fuck, I hadn’t even touched her yet. Then her scent reached me, making me growl more. I stroked her face with the side of one claw and she closed her eyes.
