He chuckled.

“What’s wrong?”

“Next time, remember to work right under the soles of your feet too.”

“Why?”

“Because,” he snickered, indicating to the sand. “I can still see your feet.”

“Oh, crap,” I muttered and made my feet invisible.

“You’ve got it. Now imagine yourself visible again. Work your way back up. I’ll do it with you.”

“Why can you do it so fast?”

“Because I’ve done this for centuries, it becomes like second nature. Soon, you’ll be able to do it without thinking.”

“And now, let’s go flying.”

My wings were out before I knew it and we quickly went invisible. In my excitement, I hadn’t noticed that Antoine had taken his top off, his T-shirt hanging from his back pocket. This man was smoking hot and all mine.

He leaned in and kissed me mid-air. “Thank you for the compliment. Right back at ya, babe.”

He held out his hand to me and then we were flying. Once we were high above the sea, I let go and began practising my moves. Diving almost to the water and zooming back up, I let out an excited whoop. Antoine and I raced through the air together. I followed his moves as he veered left and right, then up and down. He alighted back on the sand with grace. I, on the other hand, landed with a bit of a thud, almost toppling over.

“Okay, there’s no one around. We can become visible again.”

We did it together, and this time, I found it easier.

“Wow, that was… that was… actually, I have no words.”

He smiled and leaned in for a kiss. “I know. It’s just freaking awesome.”

He appeared thoughtful for a moment, his eyes narrowed. His thoughts almost spilled out, but he covered it.What was that about?

“How would you like to go into the woods and do some flying there?”

“Won’t I hit a tree?” I was a little uncertain about this. “Flying in the clear air is one thing, but…” I shrugged.

“You have built-in sonar. You won’t hit anything, I promise.”

“So, I’m a bat now with spidey senses too?” I giggled.

“Kind of. Come on.”

As we went past Mac and Jeanie’s and further into the woods, I sensed a kind of sexual tension surrounding Antoine. I had no idea what that was all about, but if he wanted me naked in the woods, I was down with that.

“Right,” he said, coming to a halt in front of me.

I tried, unsuccessfully, not to ogle his torso. My eyes travelled up and down until I met his hungry gaze. Without conscious thought, my tongue swept over my bottom lip. A noise like anguish escaped from his lips.

“Let’s focus on close contact flying. Please?” he begged.

“Sorry. Right, what do I need to do?”

“Let’s fly up to the treetops.”

I followed his lead, noticing how he narrowed his wings to avoid hitting anything. My movements weren’t quite so graceful, but I managed it.
